Type: Plot Winner: Inconclusive; there is no winner Summary: Nike encounters Yoruichi along the Coney Island boardwalk. The two become fast friends, unaware of the conflicting nature of their identities - however a sudden disagreement may threaten to drive them apart sooner than later. Location: Coney Island Terrain: Boardwalk/City Blocks Range: Close
The twilight sun illuminated the evening sky in a beautiful amber color, while the excited shouts and scraping sounds of the Cyclone’s old bearings resonated through the area. All of the vendors would begin to switch their lights on as night approached, until the glow of the amusement park rides illuminated the boardwalk in a variety of colors. The Wonder Wheel and monolithic Parachute Jump – two of Coney Island’s most prominent hallmarks – were especially radiant. Hordes of people gathered towards the rides and multiple gaming stalls with their families, most of them patiently waiting for the fireworks show that was to take place later that night. This type of scenery was commonplace for a Friday night at the Beach.
It was a beautiful place to be, and one that evoked fond memories of Nike’s childhood. As he cruised along the boardwalk, Nike couldn’t help but reminisce about the times when he would visit the park formerly known as “Astroland.” As a child, the old Bumper Cars, Go-Karts and Water Plume were his favorite three rides to frequent; it was to the point where he would repeatedly jump back in line for consecutive rides on these attractions. However, the park had long since closed down from the time Nike was young, with all rides except for the roller coasters being replaced and upgraded with newer ones. What was once Astroland was now the new and improved “Luna Park,” and inviting though it was, there was a small part of Nike that couldn’t help but brood over the loss of his childhood playground.
In the midst of Nike’s remembrance, a cool ocean breeze swept through the air, ruffling his clothes and hair in the process. The feeling of wind brushing across his face served to wake Nike from his trance, and when he came too, he found that he was standing and waiting in a line for one of the food vendors along the boardwalk.
“Ha, I must really be hungry if I carried myself here unconsciously..”
For the time being, he decided to simply wait in line for his turn to order a few hot dogs.
WE WILL BE LANDING IN NEW YORK IN EXACTLY TWENTY MINUTES. PREPARE FOR LANDING.
An ebony skinned girl could be seen staring out the window to her left. The announcement over the speaker did little to break her focus. In the distance would be a orb of light slowly falling from the sky and would find itself slowly being replaced by another bright figure. Around the girl would be no other beings in this department. The nearest passenger would be in the class below her which would be shielded by a thick curtain at the back of the isle. A woman, escorting a cart would emerge from a room ahead and make her way down the isle. On this cart there would be a different variety of food ranging from lobster to simple peanuts, and a multitude of beverages.
The flight attendant would be wearing a white shirt with a pair of black slacks, accompanied by a tie that had the companies logo on the bottom of it. The shirt carried a pocket and in this pocket was a hanker chief. It too wore the logo. The flight attendant would stop her cart next to her seat before tapping her on the shoulder. The girl would jump slightly, obviously surprised at anothers presence.
Miss Shihoin would you like anything else to eat? We're going to be landing soon.
The girl shook her head before turning back to the window, her attention once more focused on the evening sky. The flight attendant smiled as the girl turned around and would continue on to the next class.
Also...I told you that you can call me Yoruichi. My mother is Miss Shihoin.
Yes miss Yoruichi.
Yoruichi had boarded this flight from Asgard, and planned to head straight to UA. The flight attendant and her had been speaking since she got seated. Their conversations would be interrupted by the attendant needing to go back to work but would continue once finished. Although she had difficulty remembering her first name, she had taken a liking to the lady.
This was the first time she had been aboard a plane so seeing the clouds so close amazed her. The wing of the plane slashing through the millions of tiny water and dust particles brought some joy to Yoruichi. She needed a little joy right now. The reason for the trip to U.A is because it was part of the deal the king came up with. If she graduates from U.A the throne would be hers, and with that power she would expose the king as the scum that he is, or at least was. "I've changed" is a phrase Yoruichi mocked in her head. Feeling disgusted thinking about him she would focus her attention back towards the clouds.
The plane would land and Yoruichi would walk down the stairs and head inside. A single bag would be waiting for her, and within it are just clothes. The king provided her with a debt card in order for her to purchase food, clothes, and various other items. While she hated him and wanted nothing from him, she saw this as a opportunity to be petty and spend some of his wealth.
Within this bag was a smartphone provided to her by one of the king's men. Pulling out the phone she woul unlock it with the code given to her to remember. An app called "Ryde" would be on the home screen by it's lonesome. Yoruichi would call for someone to pick her up and take her to U.A.

Placed in front of Nike were three steaming Hot Dogs, ready to go. In a weird way, Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs were just another part of the Coney Island culture – if you were a local tourist in the area, it was one of many places you just had to try. Every year on Independence Day, the restaurant chain would host a Hot Dog eating contest right here in Brooklyn. It was such a big event that it attracted a plethora of television broadcasters who sought to document the competition and the crowning of the new Hot-Dog Eating Champion.
But well, Nathan’s was old hat for Nike. Though in some ways it could be considered an impressive feat, the competition never held much interest for him. There was much more going on beneath the surface, between the crime in the Coney Island Projects, and the drugs that were going in and out of Sea Gate. Nike couldn’t help but harbor a warped sense of indignation towards the ignorant sightseers who glorified Coney as being a modern day wonderland. However, he knew that his bias was unjustified – after all, he was one of the problems that corrupted the area even further. It seemed that ever since his dealings with Fury and the East Side Guns, something had begun to change within Nike. He didn’t want to admit it, but somewhere inside himself, he envied the innocent people of Brooklyn for being born in the light, while he grew up in the mud.
*Tsk, enough with the useless thoughts. There are other things I should be thinking about…*
Nike thought to himself. And with that, he took his food and left the stand, eating while trekking the rest of the boardwalk.
“I’ve got other things to worry about.”
Nike briefly spoke his thoughts aloud, remembering the true reason he came to the boardwalk tonight.
While awaiting for her ride from "Ryde", a loud growl could be heard from the girl's stomach. Hunger was kicking in. While she did have some food aboard the plane, her half Asgardian body demanded more. She has always been like this, constantly hungry. With the poor living conditions that she grew up in Yoruichi had to settle for eating moderately. No more! She felt around in her bag once more and felt the rectangular piece of plastic she was looking for...the king's card. It was black with a golden line going across the top. Tonight she decided that she was dine like the Queen she is or, at the very least, the Queen she will be.
Looking around she spotted her driver. The man drove a red car with four doors. On the side of each door was a sticker that said "Ryde", this would easily tell her this was for her. After placing her bag in the trunk and getting in she would begin to speak to the man.
Hey I know we're supposed to be goin to UA but do you know any good places around here to eat? I'm starving back here.
Hey lady I can't just take you somewhere if you didn't put in the address when you ordered me. I don't get paid for that extra stop.
Money is no issue mister
Yoruichi flashed the man the dark colored card with smile. The man smiled back before shifting his gear to drive and pulling off.
The sun had now fully set, and people were out in full force. Some families were seated and relaxing at the complimentary round tables in front of the vendors, while elsewhere, the lines for the Wonder Wheel and Thunderbolt were longer than ever. At the same time, Nike witnessed a group of college students excitedly rushing through the rabble and towards Margarita Island. Meanwhile, loud music could be heard across the boardwalk from Place to Beach, a popular summertime bar that entertained a young crowd. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time, in stark contrast to Nike, who couldn’t help but to contemplate “what could have been.”
Though he’d never regretted the path he’d chosen, Nike couldn’t help but to be curious what life would have been like if he’d stayed in school and stuck to the straight and narrow. He wasn’t too far in age from the majority of young adults there that night, so he couldn’t help but to project himself onto them. While he had money, connections, and some semblance of power, he had long since abandoned the opportunity to form anything resembling a long-standing friendship. He had no way of knowing where that kind of life would have led him, but he took solace in knowing he had just about everything materialistic that those kids could ever want.
After finishing his food, Nike made his way over to the railings that bordered the beach and posted up near a group of kids about a year or two older than he was. He stood in silence as if to kill time, when the smell of bud suddenly wafted over from the adjacent group. They were flagrantly smoking a blunt out in the open, in the middle of this huge crowd – but even this wasn’t a strange thing to encounter in Coney. Police rarely arrested anyone on the boardwalk, and they were easy to spot from either side, so there wasn’t much cause for concern on their parts. Nonetheless, they were smoking some loud, some Blueberry Yum Yum type shit.
“This is A-1, where’d you get this?”
“From my plug, he told me they just got this stuff in. Some high-grade indo he copped off his supplier. It’s fire, right?”
Nike overheard their conversation and couldn’t help but scoff at them.
After some time of driving the sun had finally set. As the car got closer to this Coney island place, Yoruichi could see in the sky what appeared to be a giant Farris wheel. While she seen what one looked like before, she never had the opportunity to actually ride one. In fact she never had to opportunity to see one in person. Her mother never had the funds to take the two of them traveling, so there were things she would never experience as a child. As they got closer the wheel would appear bigger and bigger. The sight would be accompanied by a burst of noise as they drawed near.
A sea of humanity flooded the area. Shops lined up down the entire boardwalk with dozens of people visiting each one. Some were what appeared to be games and others were of course selling food. Yoruichi only cared for the latter. Rolling down her window the various smells did a ballet under her nose as they drifted by. Some not quite familiar and some recognizable. The scent strongest was that of a blueberry pie that was somewhere in the area. Yoruichi could smell that it had been a little burnt from baking to long, no matter. She would find the shop and partake in a slice regardless. She could also smell, quite faintly in comparison to the blueberry, chicken and other fried foods. Salivating at the thought of running through each shop, the smells began to drive her crazy.
The door would be opened and the Asgardian would step out of the car. She walked around to the drivers side door before leaning in the window.
Hey I'm gonna stay here for a bit actually. You can keep the tab running until I get back.
Nah. I won't charge ya. I'll just be back in about an hour or so and I'll take you to UA. Until then you enjoy yourself sweetheart.
Yoruichi nodded before heading off. While it was nice for him to not charge her, even if he did she would not care. After all this was not her money being spent. It was the king's. The girl removed her scrunchy keeping her hair up while walking towards the crowd, this allowed her hair to fall down to her shoulders and drape over them. The first order of business was to acquire some of that pie drifting so heavily in the air.

After a few more minutes of waiting, the majority of the crowd that remained on the boardwalk began to shift and move towards the sand. Multiple people advanced onto the beach to set-up their chairs and lay down towels for them to sit and relax on. Nike absentmindedly followed suit, and proceeded to maneuver through the groups of people until –
*Bump*
He accidentally shoulder checked someone while walking. Wanting to avoid trouble, Nike reflexively turned to apologize to the other person; however he found himself bereft of speech when facing the girl next to him. It was rare for Nike to be caught so off guard, but he spoke nonetheless.
“Ah, sorry about that.”
Just as the words left his mouth, the first of the fireworks had went off in the sky. The bright and colorful lights illuminated the entire beach, giving him a much better view of the girl. She had long, violet hair that fell past her shoulders and a dark complexion that was so vibrant, it appeared to glow in the light of the firecrackers above them.
* She's so short, I barely noticed her* he thought to himself.
The fireworks looked amazing painted against the jet black canvas that was Brooklyn's night sky, but Nike remained oblivious to it all. Instead, he couldn't help but feel that his apology may have been drowned out by the noise. Just as Nike would motion to talk again, he was cut off by the girl as she spoke -

As Yoruichi glided through the crowd, she began to notice the herd thinning. Majority of the crowd would start moving towards the beach. Many people were already set up on the sand. Some in chairs, others on towels, several on the bare sand itself. She continued to survey the beach as she walked through the remainder of the crowd until-
*bump*
She was knocked out the way by some man. Yoruichi turned to face the man whose back would be facing the beach as he too turned around. She decided she would tell him off, tell him to watch where he was going, throw in a few "Fuck you" and "hey asshole"s at the guy.
Hey watch wh-
As she began to speak she caught a clear look at the man's face. For a second she could see every detail of his face, his snow white hair, and even the scar on his cheek. The next second he would be silhouetted thanks to the display of lights dancing in the sky behind him. She was flustered. The sound of the fireworks drowned out all noises which she was thankful for. Her heart began to beat rapidly and was probably audible to those nearby.
Her eyes darted up and down in an attempt to take in the man's shape of body. The first thing she noticed was his towering figure and his broad shoulders. His body from first glance was similar to those she seen in Asgard. As the first wave of fireworks fell from the sky and the noise halted, she would begin to speak.
I- i'm sorry
Yoruichi put her head down and stared at the boardwalk, trying her hardest not to make further eye contact. She had no clue what was going on right now. Maybe she was getting sick? Or simply a little light headed from her hunger? Whatever it was it felt strange. She felt as if her knees would begin to give out on her. Her chest expanding and contracting in rhythm with the beats of her heart. Her body began to burn as if she had been set ablaze by a match. Yet it tingled as if her quirk was malfunctioning. This was all so new to the girl.
Her mouth opened once more trying to find the words to say and diffuse the situation. She was speechless.

The girl was a lot more reserved than he’d expected. Even Nike himself was surprised at his own reaction – if something like this had happened a few months ago, his explosive temperament might have sent him into a frenzy, as petty as that sounded. However, a lot had changed since then. After multiple embarrassing losses at the hands of the Hero Association, Nike entered into training under the tutelage of Ghost, one of the most mysterious, yet renowned members of the Fang Organization. Besides making him stronger, Nike’s training sessions also served to rehabilitate his intolerant and sarcastic personality. Instead, he began to adopt a more serious, stoic disposition, although he remained playfully insensitive when dealing with the people he was more comfortable with. This change in attitude was the result of hard work and discipline, drilled into him by his mentor. To blend in and remain obscure was paramount to maintaining a low profile as a Villain.
And so, as the girl apologized, Nike cordially replied:
“Ah, no, don’t worry about it.“
However as soon as the words left his mouth, someone else had bumped into the girl from behind while she wasn't paying attention. They were in the middle of a rowdy crowd, with their every word being drowned out by the noise around them. At that moment, Nike impulsively grabbed the girls wrist and escorted her through the group of people to a more open area of the boardwalk a few meters away. As they broke through the flock, he would release her arm and speak once more:
"Seemed like you were getting pushed around in there, so I figured it would be better to get away from the crowd – besides, now we've got the best view in the house."
Nike motioned towards the fireworks that set off in the sky, their view now unencumbered by the massive groups of people that previously stood in front them; the girl barely stood above five feet tall, so Nike wanted to believe that he was doing her a favor. Somewhere in his mind, he'd hoped that this might excuse him for selfishly leading her away. Although Ghost had taught him to detach himself, Nike couldn't help but feel that he was being slightly overprotective of her.

While Yoruichi was distracted she felt a bump. Was her heart thumping this powerful? Is this normal? Whats happening? Looking up Yoruichi would snap out of her trance as the man grabbed her wrist.
"HE'S TOUCHING ME?!" The girl thought to herself. The giant would begin to lead her elsewhere. Where was he taking her? The white haired giant would stop leading her and release her arm.
"Seemed like you were getting pushed around in there, so I figured it would be better to get away from the crowd – besides, now we've got the best view in the house."
Just as he finished his sentence he would motion towards the sky. Various colored emerged from the exploding fireworks and began to rain down on the people below. There was something...magical about this moment. Yoruichi's heart would stop it's violent rage in her chest as she looked at the man. This time his face and body would be illuminated from the fireworks light. Every detail highlighted before her. She could feel a strong burning sensation within her. Was this love?
At that moment, her move her stomach would let out a growl. This hunger of hers would instantly overpower her "urge" from earlier.
You wanna get something to eat? My treat!

As the fireworks came to a close, the girl turned to Nike and made an unexpected request:
"You wanna get something to eat? My treat!"
It was surprising to say the least; Nike never would have guessed that their meeting would advance in such a direction. He couldn't help but find it humorously ironic that he'd previously acknowledged a growing envy towards the many civilians and young couples that innocently enjoyed their ordinary, everyday lives. Nike took it as a sign that their meeting would provide the perfect opportunity to explore his curiosity. He still had some time to kill before attending to his own business, though even if he didn't, he found it particularly hard to deny the girls request when she asked with such a glowing expression.
*She's like a little kid, the way gets so excited.*
It occurred to Nike that he'd subconsciously projected the image of his now-deceased younger sister onto her, which explained why he was so protective and willing to indulge her. Just as soon as he thought that, he placed his hand on the girls head and replied while laughing:
"Haha, alright sure, I know a place close by. Don't worry, I'll pay my share."
He began to walk towards one of the vendors along the boardwalk and motioned for the young girl to follow him, when he realized he didn't know her name.
"I'm Nike, by the way. What's your name?"
He asked while walking alongside the girl.

The man responded to Yoruichi's dinner request with a yes, however he suggested that he pay his own share. This did not bother her in the slightest. She knows how prideful a man can be. The men around her growing up were full of the stuff. Her not having to share meant more money could be spent on herself, which she was definitely okay with.
The man also said that he knew of a place nearby. Yoruichi wondered if this place had the blueberry pie that she smelled earlier. She was craving the sweet treat badly. It had been years since she had it...even more years since mama made it.
The man would begin walking towards the vendors, before turning back and motioning for her to follow. During this encounter she noticed she had never asked of his name. Mama told her to never talk with strangers and here she was attempting to buy one food.
"I'm Nike, by the way. What's your name?"
It was almost as if he could read her mind.
My name is Yoruichi. Nice to meet ya Nike.
The future Asgard Queen began to follow to man. Unable to get the smell of that pie out of her nose she figured she should ask where they were going.
where are we headed? And do they serve blueberry pie?

Nike briefly though tot himself before answering the girls question.
"I'm not too sure about about Blueberry Pie, but one of my boys works nearby. If we're lucky, he can hook us up with some free slices. That sound good to you?"
Although she seemed visibly disappointed, Yoruichi didn't seem to disagree. Nike couldn't help but laugh at her, and the fact that her expressions were so easy to read. Though he didn't yet want to admit it, he was beginning to enjoy the girls company. Since she didn't deny his proposition, Nike took her silence to mean her acquiescence, and continued to lead the way across the boardwalk. In the meantime, he texted his friend to see if he was on shift and whether or not he could have a few slices ready for them when they arrived. Although Nike had just eaten, his awakening to the Speed Force resulted in a rapid increase of his metabolism. In order to keep his energy up and continuously use his powers required that he constantly refill and gorge himself on food.
It didn't take long before they arrived; sure enough, four Sicilian Slices were ready for them upon arrival - 3 for Nike, and 1 for Yoruichi. The taste of free pizza was somehow a lot better when you didn't have to pay for it.
However, just as they were beginning to enjoy their meal, Nike's attention was drawn to a gathering of people down an adjacent dead-end alley. They were too far away to hear, but from Nike's experience, it appeared that a few local Urban Marketers were advertising and exchanging their products for money. Once he realized what was going on, Nike was possessed by the thought that these may be the men he'd been waiting for all night. His entire reason for visiting the boardwalk that night was to find out who was pushing product in Coney Island. However, his current predicament prevented him from confronting the men, lest Yoruichi find out the truth about his identity.
Unbeknownst to him, Yoruichi had taken note of his silence and sub-sequentially made aware of the suspicious men's behavior.
"I'm not too sure about Blueberry Pie, but one of my boys works nearby. If we're lucky, he can hook us up with some free slices. That sound good to you?"
Yoruichi was confused on what they were about to eat since the man never specified. If not pie then what? Cake? Pizza? She was disappointed and she was sure he could see it on her face. The smell of blueberry now gone from the air so tracking it was nigh impossible. She sighed before nodding her head and following Nike.
As they walked Nike would pull his phone out of his pocket and begin to fiddle with it. She assumed he had contacts, which equated to friends. Being new here Yoruichi has not met anyone other than the flight attendant, her Ryde driver who would return to get her, and now Nike. She wondered should she ask for his number to start out her contact list. Would she come off as thirsty? After wondering about it for a few moments, she decided it was best not to pursue the man's phone number after all.
They arrived at what appeared to be a pizza place. Although they did not have pie, she would gladly settle for pizza. The man brought four slices to them, three of which were given to Nike. This left her with one. A single slice? What's she gonna do with that? She could practically inhale and it would be gone in a blink of an eye. Nonetheless she ate what was given to her and waited for Nike to finish his meal.
*Sniff sniff*
All of a sudden a smell began to drift under Yoruichi's nose. A familiar one. It was blueberry. She quickly glanced back and forth as they walked to locate the source. They would come to a alley way. Down this alley were four men looking extremely shady.
Yoruichi normally would not interfere with these random strangers, however with her being a UA student and all it was now her job to check situations like this out.
HEY!
Yoruichi would leave Nike's side, who of which would still be attempting to eat his pizza. She would confront these men and make sure nothing illegal was happening.

From the corner of his eye, Nike could see Yoruichi down her pizza like it was nothing. Surprisingly enough, her appetite was on par with his; if he’d known, he would have thought to suggest that they order another half tray to eat. She was a simple girl, so he figured that the food might prove a sufficient enough distraction for him to approach the men, but before he could voice his thoughts, Yoruichi dashed forward as if to confront the men that Nike previously had his eye on.
*Is she deadass? What does she think she's doing?*
For a second, he was perturbed – both at the girls actions, and the speed at which she moved. Why would she approach them like that? Ordinarily, people would just mind their business and turn the other way. He couldn’t help but wonder what compelled her to act in that situation.
However, rather than to waste any more time thinking, Nike followed after the girl – it was as good a chance as any to speak to them and get the answers he desired.
“What’s going on, fellas? You guys have anything left for me?”
Nike said so, deridingly.
“Y-you, I know who you are. Y-you’re Ni-“
However before the man could finish his sentence, Nike would activate his Quirk and deliver a swift right hook to the man’s jaw, breaking it in the process. It was simply a reflex, as he believed the man would expose his identity.
“Aah ~ Look what you made me do. Don’t speak my name so casually.”
*’If you know my name, you must know why I’m here’*
Nike thought to himself. The man proceeded to scream out in pain, but Nike callously told him not to ‘shut up,’ and not make a scene.
However, in that moment that he was distracted by the dealer talking back to him, Nike fell oblivious to Yoruichi’s presence next to him.
*Ah..*
He wasn’t sure how she would react to seeing this side to him.
