[Nike] vs [Kuvira]
Type: Plot Winner: There is no winner or loser, though by the end of the fight, cops will arrive to arrest the delinquent villain, Nike. Summary: Kuvira witnesses Nike killing a horde of civilians. She decides to call the authorities and confront him to stall for time until they arrive. A battle ensues to keep him from running away. Location: Vanderveer, Flatbush Terrain: Ordinary city block Range: Close
On his way home from the corner deli, Nike was ambushed by a group of thugs from his neighborhood in Flatbush. The way these guys crowded around Nike reminded him of those losers in anime who try to pick up teenage girls on the street. His blasé expression failed to mask his apparent disappointment and after exchanging a few words, they began to fight. The weaklings had gathered en masse to ambush and jump Nike when he was least expecting it; they even cleared out the area ahead of time in preparation. Little did they know their numbers would do nothing to help them.
Their movements all had an underwater quality to them. Nike evaded and countered each of their attacks with staunch precision, attacking and dealing blows like Gatling gun. Unknown to them, Nike was previously made to fight to the death against a horde of men in a dingy Chinatown warehouse. That experience helped him refine his fighting style to be more lethal and aim to deal powerful killing blows. It didn’t take long before the fighting was over. Nike made quick work of them in a completely one-sided victory. With not a scratch on him, Nike intended to flee the scene, believing that no one had seen him.
However, contrary to that belief, a voice called out to him..

Kuvira covered her face as a bright light beamed down onto her from her now opened curtain. Suyin, the woman that took her in after the loss of her mother, and imprisonment of her father, stood next to her bed holding a part of the curtain in her hand. Today was the last day Kuvira would be woken like this as today would be the last day Kuvira would stay in this house.
You've got to get up. We've got some much left to pack.
Yes Ma'am.
Kuvira Sat up on the side of her bed before rocking forward to come to a stand. The girl would inhale deeply and clench her muscles before extending her arms far above her head, she would then roll her shoulders and come back to a neutral position. She would then glance over at the boxes in the corner of her room, a few of them packed by many of them unpacked.
Kuvira rolled her eyes before looking at Suyin, being greeted with a smile.
Why do I even need so much stuff? I'm probably going to have a roommate so this stuff would just take up space.
Well Baatar and I kind of have plans for this room once you leave. We haven't agreed on what it's going to be yet but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Kuvira let out a groan before heading over to her closet to finish packing. Suyin would follow her, upon reaching her she would wrap her arms around Kuvira and place her head on her shoulder, embracing her.
We don't actually want you to leave. If we were to walk in this room and see your belongings I know that I would break into tears.
Kuvira would feel a single drop of water on the nape of her neck, a single tear would create a stream down Suyin's face. Kuvira would turn around and embrace Suyin back. She could feel her eyes water in this moment but she held the tears back.
We love you Kuvira and we're gonna miss you greatly.
I love you both and I'll be sure to come back to you safe and sound.
I'll hold you to that.
The hug would last a second longer before they both began packing. This would go on about an hour before Suyin had to leave for work.
Kuvira finished packing everything on her own before noticing that she was missing a few items. Kuvira would head to out to go to the store.
The store she was heading towards was a few more blocks away however she decided to stop at a corner store for a quick snack. She happened to be quite fond of chocolate.
As she approached the store she could hear noises from what sounded like a scuffle nearby. Kuvira would have ignored it if it were some kids fighting, but the thought of some elderly person getting robbed so she immediately headed towards the noise.
As Kuvira arrived she witnessed something she had never seen before, a dead body. Several dead bodies to be exact. Kuvira felt sick to her stomach. This feeling didn't make her scared however, it made her angry. Maybe if she managed to get here moments before she could have saved at least one of them, if not all.
It was far too late to save them, however she would not let this individual get away. She would pull out her phone and dial 911 before placing the phone behind her back.
"HEY! HOW COULD YOU MURDER THESE PEOPLE ON FLATBUSH"
Kuvira emphasised the words murder and flatbush so that the police would know the location and severity of the situation.

However contrary to that belief, a voice called out to him ...
"HEY! HOW COULD YOU MURDER THESE PEOPLE ON FLATBUSH"
..Just as he would have tried to slink away and escape. The voice resounded clearly as he extracted one of his twin swords from his last victims' chest and re-sheathed it. Surely enough, it would have been far too convenient if he was able to get away without being seen; after all, he was in the middle of a heavily populated residential district. Perhaps he'd placed too much faith in his attackers in believing that they were capable enough to clear the place out. Without further delay, he turned to face the source of that foreboding voice as the last body lifelessly fell and slammed against the pavement.
*Hm?*
It was a woman. Not that he couldn't tell by her voice, but Nike was surprised to see that he didn't recognize her. This was Nike's neighborhood, and as such, he was particularly familiar with this area of Flatbush. The fact that he couldn't identify her was slightly unnerving, but Nike paid it no mind. With that, he replied to the woman with a blithe disregard for her overt hostility.
"Haa? What nonsense are you talking about? Those morons were a waste of breathing space. The way they pressed me, they were practically begging for death."
His mouth curled into a sadistic smile as he uttered those satisfying words. It was true - they were the one's to approach him in the first place. Unknown to that woman, these guys were out to jump and rob Nike for all of his money. However, truth be told, with his level of skill, Nike could have easily subdued that group of fools without going so far as to kill them. But why should he do that? They were sure to become a hindrance in the future, and Nike's pride wouldn't allow any sympathy in the face of such blatant disrespect. He took pleasure in the thought of killing them and decided to indulge that violent impulse. Chock it up to their bad luck for approaching Nike on the wrong day, at the wrong time, but there was no saving those clowns once they made their move against him.
As for the woman standing before him, Nike was unsure of what she wanted. However, she witnessed his culling of those 'civilians' and depending on her disposition, she could prove to be an obstacle in his getaway. Would she be the next one his hit-list? Nike would wait and attempt to decipher her intentions before making that decision.

"Haa? What nonsense are you talking about? Those morons were a waste of breathing space. The way they pressed me, they were practically begging for death."
Begging for death? What kind of monster was this man that stood before Kuvira? He even had the gall to smile afterwards. A shiver dashed down the girl's spine as she thought about what was happening. She thought about how many more people are like this man before her. It was terrifying. This is the path Kuvira decided to take however. These were the people she decided to fight against, so she could not let this one encounter shake her.
Kuvira dropped her phone as the man took his sword from the chest of his victim. She was furious, not at the man but at herself. The thought of not being able to help these people. However Kuvira was not one to let this emotion show. If she were to stop him she would need her quirk to do so. While it is illegal to use quirks in matters like this she had no choice.
The initial goal was to stall until help arrived, but plans changed. She wanted to make this man pay for ever crossing her path. There's no telling how many other people he slaughtered in his miserable life. The smile alerted Kuvira that this was not his first time doing something like this.
"What makes you think you have the right to takes some else's life? What made you stray so far from humanity? What made you become this monster?"
Kuvira's body shook slightly in rage as she spoke. Kuvira analyzed his swords and determined that he was a close range fighter, so she'd have to play carefully. If she showed her ability to attack from range too early he could run, but if she let him too close it could be fatal. Kuvira remembered the Earthbending armor ability that she recently taught herself. This technique of hers would be critical in this fight.

Ha! She wanted to know what it was that made him stray from the path of humanity. However, there was no significant reason or excuse for it. Truth be told, Nike had always possessed a strong inclination towards moral apathy. Being raised in the Vanderveer Projects meant that Nike had always been surrounded by thugs and gangbangers, and exposed to crime from a young age. Rather than fear them, Nike admired them, and as he grew older, he developed a warped idealization of their lifestyle. He respected the fact that they did whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. The power, the prestige, the wealth, the fame, the freedom – he wanted all of it. There wasn’t a grain of innocence in him; from the time he was a child, he had always fantasized about being a criminal.
“What made me become a monster? I’m just living my best life sweetheart. I live true to my desires. They stood in my way, so I killed them. It’s as simple as that. There’s no abstract reason for it – or do you have a problem with that?”
Nike said so tauntingly. Though he played himself off as a nonchalant hoodlum, Nike was in fact very observant. He had noticed the woman trembling in anger as she yelled across to him. Even if he hadn’t noticed, the cracking of her voice as she screamed telegraphed her feelings all too well. Knowing of her feelings, Nike couldn’t help but goad her with barbed words. He wished to provoke a reaction out of her. If she left after being frustrated and intimidated, then his getaway would be clean and easy. However, if she was feeling like a hero, then -
*Hm?*
He noticed something on the ground at her feet.
*A phone? Haha, she’s not low.*
If that phone was indeed hers, it was logical to assume that she may have used to alert the authorities while Nike was distracted with his prey. If that were the case, then Nike’s getaway might not be so clean after all. Nike proceeded to gesture towards the phone:
“Looks like you dropped you dropped something! You wouldn’t happen to have used that phone to call the police, would you? Haha! Would you forgive me if I told you I’m sorry and that I regret it? How about it?”
He snidely remarked, attempting to antagonize her with his sarcasm.
“What made me become a monster? I’m just living my best life sweetheart. I live true to my desires. They stood in my way, so I killed them. It’s as simple as that. There’s no abstract reason for it – or do you have a problem with that?”
The sweetheart remark annoyed Kuvira to no extent. So much so that she thought about rushing him down as he stood there.
“Looks like you dropped something! You wouldn’t happen to have used that phone to call the police, would you? Haha! Would you forgive me if I told you I’m sorry and that I regret it? How about it?”
Forgiveness? It was far too late for that. This was not something that you can just be "forgiven" for, no matter how much time has passed. Another thing that made Kuvira upset was his tone as he spoke. Everything this guy said bothered her, annoyed her, and made her hate him.
The man was annoying but he was perceptive. He had caught on to what she was doing for the most part, so she had to be careful as to not spook him.
"Suppose I did call the cops? Now what? Are you gonna run? Are you gonna stay and deal with me, someone that is a witness to your crimes? I do not plan on letting you get away with this. I will follow you if you try to run and will catch you."
Kuvira put her fists up to her face. Her hands were shoulder width apart as well as her footing. The left hand slightly ahead of the right hand. Kuvira's left foot ahead of her right foot, and her feet, as well as the rest of her body, were facing right slightly. Kuvira's chin was tucked slightly into her chest.
"You are going to pay for what you have done. You can spend the rest of your days in a jail cell asking for "Forgiveness"."

She was provoking him. It took a lot of sand for someone to stand their ground and threaten Nike the way she did, but he didn't hate those kinds of people. Under most circumstances, he would stick around to entertain her challenge, but in this particular case, he had nothing to gain by doing so. If she alerted the police, then they would already be on their way to the scene. Fighting her after having already expended some of his stamina was one thing, but going to war with the 63rd precinct after all of that was madness. By now he'd noticed that this woman wasn't an ordinary citizen. She didn't fear him, nor did she think about running away; in fact, she looked like she was raring to fight. He thought to himself that 'it may have been a mistake to antagonize her like that.'
Avoiding a fight and escaping was in his best interest. The fact that she witnessed his crime and would live to tell about it was of no consequence to him. As a matter of fact, it was good for him. He wouldn't mind is she spoke of what she saw. He wouldn't mind if she spread word of his actions. If leaving her alive would help cultivate his legacy, than fleeing might not be such a bad idea.
But at the end of the day, running away just wasn't in his nature. Rather than do The Race, he much preferred to confront things head on.
"Haha, run away? Don't make me laugh! I don't plan on being arrested any time soon, but if you're gonna go that far to challenge me, it's only courteous that I accept."
And with that, he dashed forward. Nike had a special way of moving as part of a fighting style that he created for himself. It involved using his Quirk of Permeation to phase his body into intangibility, sink his feet into the ground, and then deactivate his ability immediately afterwards. This allowed him to 'eject' himself from the ground and move much faster than if he were to physically run. He used this unique walking technique to close in on his opponent.
"I'll just have to force my way past you, now won't I?! Come on girly, don't make this too easy for me. Otherwise I'll turn you into a mess worthy of a modern arts show!"

The man did not seemed to be phased by the words Kuvira spoke, in fact it lit a spark within the man. The opposite effect Kuvira would have liked to have happened.
"Haha, run away? Don't make me laugh! I don't plan on being arrested any time soon, but if you're gonna go that far to challenge me, it's only courteous that I accept."
This man was prepared to fight in order to maintain his pride. He was either prideful or an idiot, and while it may have also been the latter, Kuvira could tell it was his pride on the line. A villain like him would not allow a random girl on the street to "check" him the way she just did just now, and be one hundred percent okay with that.
Without hesitation the man dashed towards Kuvira with a nearly blinding speed. There was something "off" with the way this man moved. This movement was not at all normal and Kuvira would not understand what was happening immediately. Then like a strike of lightning, it hit her. Thanks to Kuvira's Seismic Sense she could feel what was going on, or in this case what was not going on. Normally she would feel the vibrations as the man stepped downwards, but there was some kind of delay in the vibrations. This funky movement had to be the work of a quirk.
"I'll just have to force my way past you, now won't I?! Come on girly, don't make this too easy for me. Otherwise I'll turn you into a mess worthy of a modern arts show!"
Kuvira took a step back and as she did so she would use that step to create a Stone wall in front of the man to stop his assault. Kuvira would then create an Armor of earth around her body, the defend against future attacks.

Nike watched as his opponent stepped back and instantly felt the ground rumble as a wall of Earth rose to obstruct his path. He surmised that this unnatural occurrence was no doubt the work of a powerful Quirk, and that his opponent was finally getting into the spirit of things. Now, most people in his situation, moving as fast as he was, would probably find it nigh impossible to stop themselves before ramming headfirst into this obstacle. However as luck would have it, Nike was more than capable of avoiding harm. Without wasting a second, he would permeate his entire body into intangibility the moment that reached the wall, allowing him to pass safely through it without losing any of his previous momentum.
The moment that he exited the wall, Nike solidified himself and spotted his adversary on the other side. While leading off of his left foot, he cocked his right hand back, clenched it into a fist, and drove it directly into the woman’s sternum. That punch, with all of his speed and momentum behind it, was intended to leave her staggering back, off-guard and open to a follow up. Contrary to expectations however, she seemed completely unfazed. In his excitement, Nike had failed to notice that the woman had adorned herself with a peculiar type of earthen-armor. It was tough enough that if his gloves hadn’t been laced with a protective sheet of metal, then he may have injured his own hand in the process.
With the impact of his punch unable to penetrate, Nike took a single step back and spoke to his foe:
“First you raise a wall of Earth, and then you form a suit of armor out of it. Your Quirk’s Earth Manipulation, isn’t? Haha, not bad! So that’s why you were so unafraid of me – you’re probably a hero or something, aren’t you?”
Though he was slightly impressed at her valor, it didn’t change the fact that Nike would have to force his way past her and escape.
“Sorry sweetie, impressive as they may be, your powers mean nothing if they can’t hit me.”
As Kuvira suited up with her Earth armor she felt his presence disappear into thin air for a split second. It was as if he vanished on the other side of the wall she had created. Then, out of the earth, the man appeared. Kuvira had seen other quirks before obviously but not one like this. It was as if the man was some kind of ghost.
The man's sudden appearance stunned Kuvira a bit. In her confusion she had not noticed that he had landed a clean hit onto her chest.
"Shit! How could I be so careless? Had I not had this Earth Armor I would have been hit. I have to be a lot more careful during this fight. "
Kuvira noticed the sound that the man's gloves created when they struck her armor. There had to be some kind of metal in his gloves or that punch would have hurt him a lot. Kuvira noticed the man take a step back before speaking to Kuvira.
“First you raise a wall of Earth, and then you form a suit of armor out of it. Your Quirk’s Earth Manipulation, isn’t? Haha, not bad! So that’s why you were so unafraid of me – you’re probably a hero or something, aren’t you?”
It was almost scary how accurate the man was. She had been found out. Although this really did not matter to Kuvira. Yes he may have figured out her ability, but he had not clue of the extent that she could go, nor did he know how creative Kuvira could be with these powers of hers.
“Sorry sweetie, impressive as they may be, your powers mean nothing if they can’t hit me.”
The reality of the situation hit her like a bus. What's stopping him from just going ghost and walking out of here? Then something else hit her. Kuvira smirked at the man before let out a slight chuckle. She had figured him out.
" If you have a quirk that lets you be immune to getting hit, then why are you still here? Every quirk has some kind of drawback and I assume yours does as well. Maybe you can only use it for a moment, or you can only use it so much in general before something happens to you. Either way I plan on testing the limits to your powers."
Kuvira would throw a series of punches towards the man allowing some of the earth from her suit to be launched towards the man. This barrage of punches would force the man into using his quirk to evade or risk getting hit. This battle became more of a chess match.
Post by Pretty Flacko on Mar 30, 2018 23:59:23 GMT
“’Why am I still here?’I just thought I’d entertain your challenge is all! Besides, you wouldn’t let me escape without a fight, would you?”
As Nike replied to his foe, she would launch a series of swift, consecutive punches in his direction. Though her fists didn’t connect with his body, he noticed that pieces of earth separated from her armor and flew towards him in the form of multiple projectiles. They appeared to be following the path set by her fists as she swung them. However, with Nike’s tracking abilities, he was easily capable of following her movements and avoiding being hit even within such close range.
As soon as she would have thrown her first punch, Nike would instantly react by keeping his left foot planted in front of him while arc-stepping clockwise on his right foot, planting it behind the left one. This would be done in such a way that his opponent would now be facing his left profile. By stepping backwards, Nike would reduce the surface area of his body that was exposed to her flurry of attacks, thus making it easier to defend himself.
Simultaneous to his arc-step, he would use his left hand to parry and slap away each of the projectiles fired at him. Using his ability of Permeation, Nike would phase his body for a split second at the exact moment that the earth bullets would have made contact with his hand. Immediately afterwards, he would de-activate his ability and re-solidify himself in order to “eject” each of the rocks and deflect them away from his body. This ejection was caused by the fact that two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time; therefore whenever Nike solidified, the rocks were fired out of his hand with incredible force. He would swiftly repeat this process with every rock that was fired at him.
Afterwards, the moment his opponent’s attacks came to a halt, Nike used his right hand to grip the handle of the sword sheathed on his right hip. Due to way he turned his body earlier, Nike’s right side would currently be out of view for his opponent. Nike sought to take advantage of this to catch her off guard with his next attack. He proceeded to remove the sword, and while holding it in a reverse grip, he would charge his opponent once again. Leading off of his left foot, Nike would swing his right hand around and attempt to slash his opponent across the chest in one of the areas left exposed by the absence of her Earthen-armor.
Why am I still here?’I just thought I’d entertain your challenge is all! Besides, you wouldn’t let me escape without a fight, would you?”
While he was right about not getting away with out a fight, Kuvira's theory was not dead yet. However it seemed the man did not need to use his ability to dodge the projectiles fired. Some were dodged and some were somehow redirected.
The man would leap towards Kuvira and attempt to slash her with his sword using his right hand. This attack would be aimed at Kuvira's chest, which was now exposed from the projectiles she had fired off earlier at the man. She would hop back and using her first step she would summon a pillar of earth from the ground to defend herself, as well as obscure the man's vision.
Kuvira would then take another step and create a hole underneath herself. She decided she would lurk underground and prepare a counter attack of her own. The hole would be covered up with her Earthbending so the man would be none the wiser.
Kuvira began to dig deep and tunnel under the man and behind him.
Just as Nike would attempt to slash his opponent, she would raise an earthen pillar to defend herself from harm. Having missed his chance to execute her, Nike felt a wave of frustration crash and wash over him; 'she was making this harder than it needed to be,' he thought. If their fight took much longer, he may find himself in more trouble than he bargained for.
The cops could arrive at any second, and as if that wasn't bad enough, his stamina was beginning to diminish. As his foe previously speculated, the use of Nike's Quirk came with a significant drawback. When permeating his body, Nike was capable of phasing through all forms of matter. However, this also meant that things like light, sound, and even air would pass through his body when his abilities were in use. This meant being temporarily robbed of the ability to see, hear, and breathe, thus draining him of his stamina.
As a result, Nike was beginning to lose his patience along with his endurance.
Therefore, as his opponent raised the earthen pillar, Nike would use his signature "Full-Body Jigen-Tou" technique in order to repeatedly permeate his body back and forth between a solid and intangible state. This would allow him to partially phase into any solid object in order to fracture and destroy it as he phased back into solidity. Nike would thereafter proceed to clench his free-left hand into a fist and drive it forward, through the wall. At the moment, his entire body was a weapon in and of itself. With his fist, he would effortlessly fracture and smash through the earth pillar as if his arm were a jack-hammer.
Surprisingly though, his foe was no where to be found on the other side; she had vanished. However, Nike was completely unconcerned. With his impatience starting to get the best of him, he immediately thought that this was the perfect opportunity to escape. And so with this, Nike would cancel out his technique and unsuspectingly attempt to retreat from the battle scene.
Perhaps it was a brief lapse in judgement, but Nike seemed to have forgotten how stubborn and tenacious his opponent truly was. As he himself previously stated, she 'wasn't the type of person to let him get away so easily...'
While Kuvira lurked under ground, her Seismic sense ability would stilk be active. This would allow Kuvira to sense the vibrations above ground, thus allowing her to track the man by his footsteps. By now the man had destroyed her Earth pillar and found Kuvira was no where to be found.
"This is my chance"
Kuvira would emerge from the ground, behind the man, and begin her attack. Before she did this she made sure to replenish her Earth armor. As soon as she emerged from the ground, she would activate her euro step, increasing her speed, and dash towards the man. Kuvira would wrap her arms around the man's waist and begin to life him above her head. As she did this she would lean back, attempting to slam the man into the ground with a German suplex.
"Phase this!"
As the man hit the ground she would Use her Earth bending ability to create a hole underneath them, this creating a longer fall for the man as well as trapping him under ground with her.
[link="http://dawn-of-tomorrow.boards.net/thread/402/tomago" Go Go[/link]
Just as Nike would attempt to turn tail and escape, a pair of arms would wrap around his waist and constrict him from behind. It was his opponent, who had somehow managed to circle around him and launch a surprise attack. Before he had anytime to deduce where she may have come from or how she could have gotten there, he was sent tumbling over backwards and crashing into the earth with a powerful suplex. He descended into a hole in the ground, presumably made by his foe, and collided with the earth below at high-speeds. He fell onto his back with a loud "thwap!" and upon impact, his body was jolted with an intense pain. However, that pain inadvertently brought him back to his senses.
For a split second, Nike listlessly lied on the ground, looking up at his opponent standing over him and the evening sky in the backdrop.
*Tsk-*
He realized that he had gotten careless in his impatience. At that moment, he determined that he was no longer in any shape to be fighting and that he would prioritize his escape over his pride. Though he wasn't fond of running away, he could always seek this woman out in the future and retaliate when he was in top form. Therefore, before she had a chance to follow up with another attack, Nike would permeate his entire body and phase himself into the earth.
Now, Nike's ability of permeation had a unique side effect that would allow him to eject himself from solid objects when he deactivated his Quirk while within one. This was due to the fact that his body could not overlap with any preexisting mass, and thus would automatically be 'transported' outside of said object. He had already demonstrated a similar ability earlier, when he parried away all of the rocks that his opponent shot at him.
With this ability, Nike would slightly adjust the angle of his body as he fell into the ground in order to alter the trajectory of his subsequent ejection. Afterwards, upon deactivating his Quirk, Nike would reappear above ground, several meters in front of and away from the hole in the ground. The speed at which he moved was so swift that it outwardly mimicked what appeared to be teleportation.
Without wasting a second, Nike proceeded to repeat the process one more time in order to eject and resurface farther away, within a bando on the corner of the block. Though incredibly useful, the ability of ejection took a severe toll on Nike's stamina when used consecutively. As a result, Nike would take a brief moment to recuperate within the abandoned house while hiding his presence from his opponent. At that moment, he thought to himself:
*This bitch just had to get in my way! I gotta make my escape somehow, otherwise this really might end badly for me.*
