“Jotaro! Wait!”
Pushing open the front door to his home, the teenaged Joaro turned around to spot his mother giddily bounding up behind him. Much to his dismay, she gently patted her palm against the side of his face, her other hand pressed lovingly on his shoulder.
“Give your mother a good-bye kiss,” she giggled, pushing herself onto her tip-toes to reach her son’s cheek.
Grimacing, Jotaro rapidly reached up and grabbed her wrists, pushing her hands away from his body. “Jeez, how about you stop treating me like a baby? That gets annoying, bitch.”
Stunned for a moment, Jotaro’s mother fell back as he turned out the door, making his way towards the street with his hands in his pants pocket. “Okay, honey!” she called cheerfully, almost immediately forgetting Jotaro’s outburst. “Have a good day!”
“What a pain in my ass…” Jotaro groaned, pulling down on the bill of his hat. Reaching the street, Jotaro turned towards the three police cars zooming past him, their alarms blaring as they turned sharply at the corner. The teenager looked contemplatively towards the direction, opposite to that he needed to go in to get to school. His normally aloof expression had intensified, reflecting his thoughts as he mulled over the police cars. Something about it didn’t feel right, a bad feeling sinking from his chest and into his stomach. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to shake the feeling, he turned to follow the cars’ path, his hands in his pockets as he casually strolled down the street.

“Alright, anybody move, and I’ll blow this bitch’s head off!”
A crowd had now gathered outside of the store behind the police barricade. The chatter of the onlookers had grown to a roar, drowning out even the shouts of the policemen to stay back and disperse from the dangerous scene. However, the orders fell on deaf ears.
“I seem them!” one of the onlookers shouted, pointing towards the far left window of the convenience store. The police’s shouts grew louder as the onlookers began to push over themselves to see better, peering at the window.
“I see her!”
“She’s holding a hostage!”
“Looks like a gun to her head!”
The onlookers murmured and shuffled as they moved to see the silhouette better, barely making out the shadow of one figure holding the other. Inside of the store, four people sat on the ground behind the register. Two men, with an elderly woman and a female store clerk sitting in between them. On the other side of the counter stood a lone woman holding another store employee in a choke hold with her left arm, her pistol resting against the side of the trembling woman’s face. Her expression was mostly hidden by a pair of dark sunglasses with thin frames, though what could be seen could only be described as focused and cold. The gunwoman edged away from the counter, pulling the employee with her.
“If any of you think I’m joking, you’ll have this woman’s blood on your hands,” she spat at the hostages. She turned her head briefly towards the front door. A bead of sweat started on her brow and slowly streamed down from behind her shades, across the side of her face. “It’s not here,” she thought to herself, her frantic thoughts a stark contrast to her otherwise cool demeanor. “They’re going to think I’m doing some common stick-up. What a damn mess.”
The gunwoman cocked the hammer of the gun. The employee jumped at the sound, her voice escaping her lips in small whimpers as she felt her forehead becoming covered in sweat. “Stay still, bitch. I’m not playing kiddie games here. I’m gonna ask you one more time, and I so much as think you’re lying-”
“I’m not, I swear to God I wouldn’t. Please just...just don’t shoot me, I have a hus-”
“Good.” he gunwoman’s cold voice cut the employee’s off. The woman, now crying silently, closed her eyes in anguish. Images of her husband flashed through her mind. Would this morning, leaving for work as he finished his coffee, really be the last time she would see him? Her darling husband, she wished she had told her one more time that she loved him. She choked down a sob and tried to keep her composure.
“Are you absolutely sure you didn’t see a mask made of stone in this store?”
“We’ve never sold anything like that.”
“I didn’t ask if you sold it, bitch. I asked if you’ve seen it. Not in the bathroom while you were powdering that button nose of yours? Or doing your shirt just good enough to sway customers into buying more shit? Maybe while lugging the trash out at night? Any of these ring any damn bells?”
“Please, God, no. I’ve told you the truth, please, just end this.”
“Oh, trust me, I’m thinking about it. There’s four more people here, one being an employee. If you can’t help me-”
“No, please,” the employee screamed. Her shrill voice carried even through onto the street outside.
“Someone’s in trouble.” Arriving to the scene, Jotaro looked stoically towards the store. “From the sound of it, a woman.” With a mere thought, Jotaro activated his Quirk and summoned Star Platinum from his body. “Tch, I’d have to get closer at this rate.” With Star Platinum floating besides himself, Jotaro began to march forward.
“Hey, you, step back now,” an officer commanded as JoJo reached the barricade. To avoid panic, he had made Star Platinum invisible to all those around him. Ignoring the officer’s instruction, Jotaro braced his left hand against the top of the barricade, pushing his body off of the ground and leaping over it. With his impressive strength, the teenager sent himself over the officer, landing a few feet away from the glass pane of the store.
“I said step back,” the officer cried again, drawing his gun from the holster on his waist.
Looking back over his shoulder, Jotaro simply glared towards the officer. The man swallowed hard and replaced his weapon, quickly spinning around in a comical fashion with sweat pouring down his face. “N-No problem here, folks, just keep behind the barricades and stay at a safe distance.”
Looking back to the store, Jotaro released Star Platinum from his body with nary a move, the invisible figure phasing into the ground. Within the store, the woman tightened her arm’s grip around her hostage’s neck, pulling her closer and pressing the gun harder against her temple.
“This is odd,” the crook thought to herself. “Usually they’d make demands by now. I bet a Quirk user is outside. Dammit, if only I could see out these windows better. These damn signs, I can’t make out shit.”
As she cursed to herself, Star Platinum began to emerge from the ground in front of her. A drop of sweat dripped from the woman’s brow. Emerging a few feet in front of the woman, Star Platinum moved diagonally towards her left slowly, circling around her to get behind to deliver a powerful sneak punch. Through Star Platinum’s eyes, Jotaro observed her movements closely, his eyes narrowing as he prepared the extension of his will to strike.
As Star Platinum pulled back its right arm, leaning the right half of his body back for maximum impact, the woman suddenly shoved her hostage forward. Spinning around, she pointed the gun at Star Platinum and fired rapidly. Six shots exploded from the gun’s barrel. “ORA!” With a battle cry, Star Platinum quickly swatted the bullets away, the projectiles being deflected away in multiple directions.
The glass doors of the fridges exploded as the bullets pierced through, bursting the bottles and cartons behind them. Two of the bullets went into the ceiling, another going into the cash register as another went into the ground a few inches from the woman’s feet.
“I knew a Quirk user was going to show up here.” With a flip of her hair, the woman pointed her gun back towards the hostage who sat terrified behind her. “Try not to move darling, I’d hate to fill these people with holes.” A cold smile twisted onto her face.
Outside of the store, Jotaro’s face grimaced slightly. “So she’s a Quirk user,” Jotaro thought to himself. “Oi, pig,” he called, looking back at the officer who had called to him before.
“P-Pig?! Hey, who do you think you’re talking to?”
“The woman in there. Just who is she.”
“Huh? What’s it to y- Oh forget it. She calls herself Madam Mistress. Far as we can tell, she’s one of them Quirk fellas. Er, women. Something about incredible sight and gun-slinging.”
Jotaro turned back towards the store. “Incredible sight,” he thought to himself. “Could she see Star Platinum even when he was invisible? That would explain how she knew to turn around.”
“So you’re the Quirk user that’s shown up,” Mistress said smugly. Twirling her gun, she pointed it once more at Star Platinum. “What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”
With a stomp, Star Platinum caused some of the wood in the floorboards to fly up in the air. Quickly, it swiped towards the debris, grabbing a handful and throwing it through the glass window. Outside, the onlookers shrieked and ducked to cover their heads at the sudden crash. The glass landed near Jotaro’s feet, not even a flinch coming from the teenager.
“Good grief,” Jotaro muttered, pulling on the bill of his hat. “I hate annoying conversations like this. You saw my Star Platinum from the beginning didn’t you?” he called through the broken window.
“That’s right,” Mistress called back. “My Quirk grants me impeccable sight. No, that’s not quite right. It’s more like absolute insight. Disguises, cloaks, invisibility...all of it is meaningless before me.”
“Such an ability combined with a gun.” Jotaro pondered. “But that weapon of hers is strange too. If my Star Platinum was able to see and deflect the bullets, they had to be moving much slower than a normal gun’s. Could that be part of her Quirk?”
Through Star Platinum, Jotaro looked down at the bullet hole in front of Mistress. To his surprise, he could see that half of the bullet was jutting out of the hole. Furthermore, the bullet had begun to dissolve away into a thin, whispy smoke that wafted off into nothingness.
“What the hell? Did the bullet just...vanish? So it is related to her Quirk. But what kind of Quirk gives a person special vision and the power to make a bullets?” Star Platinum’s eyes shot back towards the gun. “Is the gun part of the Quirk too?”
Catching Star Platinum’s gaze, Madam Mistress chuckled heartily. “I suppose you’re confused about my Quirk. Eh...Jotaro?”
Jotaro’s jaw clenched in surprise as a single bead of sweat dripped down the side of his head. “You’re wondering how I know your name, right? I told you, my power is insight. The longer I look at your Quirk, the more I see about you. And soon, I’ll have a clear image of your face.”
With hardly a second to give Jotaro time to process her words, the woman aimed her gun at Star Platinum once more and fired. Four shots rang through the air towards the projection, prompting Jotaro to swipe at the bullets once more. This time, two of the bullets struck at the counter the hostages hid behind, prompting them to cry out once more.
“Tch.” Jotaro’s jaw clenched further. “I can’t keep deflecting the bullets like this with Star Platinum. One stray and I could end up hitting one of the hostages. I can’t dive in either, or she might shoot at them directly. What a pain.”
“From the look of this thing in front of me, I’d say you’re looking a bit panicked, Jotaro. And your face is coming into my head quite nicely. Just a few more seconds, and I’ll know exactly what you look like. Then my bullets won’t miss you!”
Jotaro’s brow furrowed. “What does she mean by that?”
His thoughts were interrupted by Madam Mistress firing once more, this time eight shots ringing through the air. Knowing he couldn’t deflect them so thoughtlessly again, Jotaro opted for a different route. Star Platinum dove backwards from the bullets’ path before somersaulting to his left, pushing off his landing to propel himself to the other side of the store. As expected, the bullets went whizzing past where he stood before. Jotaro breathed softly through is nose in relief. This breath would soon turn back to tension as the bullets suddenly curved from their original path.
“What?” Jotaro’s eyes widened in genuine shock. With a burst of speed, Star Platinum punched at the bullets, deflecting the bullets downwards and into the ground. A cloud of dust kicked up from the floor, surrounding Star Platinum.
Madam Mistress laughed heartily. “You think you can dodge my bullets? I told you, my vision is unparalleled. Nothing I’ve aimed at can avoid my bullets.” Cocking her gun, she aimed at the dust cloud. “Now for the finishing blow,” Madam declared triumphantly, firing off into the dust cloud. The bullets whizzed through the dust, missing Star Platinum and striking the wall behind him.
Jotaro’s brow furrowed once more in confusion, his head leaning forward slightly. “Wait a second,” he thought. “The bullets missed my Star Platinum this time around. But…” His eyes widened as epiphany struck him. “That’s it. She said anything she’s aiming at. She couldn’t see Star Platinum, so she couldn’t aim at him. That’s gotta be it. In that case…”
Madam Mistress clenched her jaw in annoyance, aiming the gun at the cloud again. “This time, I’ll have a clear shot and blow that thing’s head off. Then Jotaro’s next. Lord Dio will be quite pleased if I blow off the head of a Joestar!” A cold smile twisted onto her face as the image entered her mind. She’d wave the gun in a circular motion, firing off so many rounds, it’d be impossible for Star Platinum to deflect them all. She couldn’t help but chuckle, her shoulders bouncing up and down as her laughter grew.
Suddenly, the door behind her to the bathroom shattered, Star Platinum bursting through shoulder-first. “What?” Madam Mistress started to spin around, ready to fire. “I see. He must have had Star Platinum phase through the wall and go through the bathroom for a sneak attack. But the idiot forgot to phase through the door.” Madam Mistress prepared to fire off her gun. She grinned triumphantly, knowing her plan was sure to lead to Jotaro’s demise. She could see it now, his head exploding as she unloaded her bullets at point blank once she was done with Star Platinum. She had came for the Stone Mask, but killing Jotaro would be more than enough to please DIO himself. She began to laugh again, completing her turn. And at that moment, her blood ran cold. Her grin turned quickly into a look of sheer terror. Unable to stop herself, she fired as she had planned. What she hadn’t planned for, was seeing herself as she did so.
“Th-th-th-th-the bathroom mirror?” she cried, her voice filled with panic. Indeed, Star Platinum floated before her, holding up the dislodged bathroom mirror in front of his face. “ORA!” Just as she had fired, Madam Mistress had caught her own reflection in her sights. “Th-that bastard Jotaro. He made me aim at myself.” Mistress collapsed backwards, stumbling over her own shaking legs as she realized what this would mean. The bullets zoomed through the air, reaching just before the mirror Star Platinum held before curving again. Tears filled Mistress’ eyes as she fell onto the floor, her eyes rolling back into her head.
“Now!” Star Platinum dropped the mirror to the floor and shot forward, getting in front of the slumped Madam Mistress. “ORA!” With a cry, Star Platinum punched forward, using a flurry of blows to deflect the bullets into the ground. “ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA!” Star Platinum continued his barrage, his arms a blur as every bullet was sent straight down through the tile and floor boards. As the dust settled, Star Platinum turned around. In a pool of her own panicked drool, Madam Mistress laid knocked out, her body comically twitching. Her gun lay beside her for a few seconds before disappearing into a waft of the same thin smoke her bullets did. “Gimme a fucking break,” Jotaro muttered, pulling down on the bill of his cap.
A few moments later, the police latched their handcuffs onto Madam Mistress’ hands and tied a blindfold around her eyes. “Hey, where’s the guy who caught her and freed the hostages?” the cop tucking her into the cruiser asked.
“No idea,” his partner replied. “Took off without sayin’ a word t’ us.”
“Jeez, even the heroes in this town are turning into dicks.”
“What are ya gonna do.”
A few blocks away, Jotaro turned a corner, making his way back towards his home. “A woman with two Quirks,” Jotaro thought to himself, his hands in his pockets and his typical stoic demeanor betrayed the pensive thoughts in his head. “I didn’t even know such a thing was possible. The gun and bullets were an Emitter type and I guess the other...was a Mutation? Gimme a fucking break…”
Jotaro’s thoughts were interrupted as his mother’s voice called out to him. “Jotarooo, honey, is that you? I thought you were heading to school today? Are you sick dear? Oh, mommy can fix you up your favorite meals right away.”
Jotaro’s jaw clenched as his anger built up, finally culminating in him outbursting, “Jeez, bitch, do you have to be so damn annoying?”
Pushing open the front door to his home, the teenaged Joaro turned around to spot his mother giddily bounding up behind him. Much to his dismay, she gently patted her palm against the side of his face, her other hand pressed lovingly on his shoulder.
