Objective: Patrol the District
During the Day (H intermediate)
The sun beamed brightly in the sky and a light breeze gently pushed along kicking up leaves and random dust and debris. Not unexpected for the port district of the city, there was often dirt and mess and general debris from the heavy work happening here. Jiren however was clear of that standing a good twenty feet above the area on a small roof. He had a free day from his studies but as fitting with a true hero of justice he stood vigilant. Crime after all took no days off.
Growing up in a small village the big city was rather unusual for Jiren, the smells and sounds were overwhelming however the air seems stifled all at the same time. The laws here were very different too especially for those with no heroic licenses, it seemed stupid and arbitrary. How could they claim to believe in justice here and also labour under the belief that a license somehow makes you a hero, the professionals he had seen here so far appeared more celebrity than crime fighter.
Jiren wasn't going to let something so small stop him from protecting his newly adopted home however. He simply need to be sure he wasn't caught, which was the primary reason for his being on the rooftop to begin with. Though the range of vision afforded by this height was also helpful. He had been scanning in all directions for at least an hour now, waiting for something out of the ordinary to occur and from the screeching of tires audible to his west it seemed that moment was arriving.
Two black vans pulled up rapidly near one of the warehouses and a group of men dressed in black suits. Appearing to me of Asian descent emerged from them, it wasn't evidence of a crime but it was suspicious enough. They weren't dressed for work in a warehouse that was for sure, the dark glasses they wore clearly obscuring their face. It was sunny but not anywhere near enough for those shades. If the heat bothered them they wouldn't all be wearing black either. With all this evidence Jiren went ahead to investigate. Moving to the edge of the roof he was on, he gripped the rungs of the ladder he used to scale the roof sliding down to the fire escape and quietly making his way down. He didn't want to cause a commotion just yet.
His feet hit the ground quickly and quietly, the white soles of his pride troopers boots emanated the slightest thud on the dark asphalt as he edged closer to the warehouse. Jiren knew bursting in the front door was not a wise move so he manoeuvres around the building looking for another fire escape. These warehouse usually had large skylights atop that would allow him to survey the scene below.
Luckily it didn't take him long to find the fire escape and clamber up carefully. Treading lightly across the steel roof careful to maintain his quiet posture as to not alert the potential criminals below he made his way to the skylight, peering carefully in to the building he saw the men directly below him. It seemed his intuition was correct, the dusty warehouse floor was practically empty save for a chair in the centre, a man sat there his voice muffled beneath a black hood. While the gang of men from outside surrounded him in a circle, speaking in a tongue foreign to Jiren.
Heated words were exchanged though Jiren didn't speak the language the scene painted an accurate picture of what was happening below, the men had captured someone and were planning something quite possibly nefarious and cruel. Jiren didn't have much time to react given the time he had taken getting to the roof it wasn't an option to climb back down and sneak inside. He didn't like utilizing his quirk on what appeared to be common criminals however so he would be sure to restrain himself. Just because he didn't have his license didn't mean he couldn't protect people and he was set on proving it.
Time was running short though that much was sure as he saw the presumed leader of the group draw a very long and unsavoury looking meat cleaver from inside his suit jacket and began to approach the man in the chair. The time for contemplation was certainly over. His quirk activated humming a shield to life around jirens body of red energy as he crashed through the sky light dropping around twenty feet in to the warehouse landing directly in front of the man's path.
Cries of confusion and anger rose rapidly as Jiren hit the ground, he didn't want to allow them time to regroup however and struck fast and hard, grasping the wrist of the man holding the cleaver, Jiren would slam his balled fist with considerable force in to the shoulder popping it from it's socket causing him to drop the blade. Reaching down he would grab the man by his legs and spin him rapidly, before releasing him like a wrecking ball sending him crashing in to several of his comrades, bodies splayed everywhere as they crashed to the ground stunned.
Jiren knew however he couldn't let up until they were all down for the count and charged in tucking his shoulder down his shield humming with energy as he smashed in to one of the man as they tried to stand back up sending him crashing in to the wall slipping into unconsciousness.
Barely a second passed before a few more were clambering haphazardly to their feet and Jiren was not done yet, running at them he unleashed a brutal punt kick to one still kneeling sending him skating across the floor dust trailing off him like the tail of a comet. He was still skating as Jiren reached the last two landing a punch to the gut of the first and a wild hook to the ribs of the second before bouncing their heads together knocking them both out.
His work was done and the dust settles over a room of unconscious but otherwise unharmed criminals. They might need a few weeks vacation but they'd be sure to get that in prison. Of course Jiren couldn't call the cops from his own phone. Thankfully he wouldn't need to. Slipping his hand in to the pocket of the downed criminal closest to him he would retrieve their phone. Calling 911 he would place the phone on the floor, knowing they would trace the blank call and come across the criminals soon. Jiren left the building. Feeling accomplished the city was a little safer, regardless of the laws they had set in place he could still be a true hero in this place.
