< To Be Announced > TBA
It was extremely dark around Mob, a void with seemingly no end, an abyss that he was left to wander. Faint dripping sounds like water echoing as if it was a cave with no light and nothing to touch except for maybe the ground Mob was walking on. It was scary however because when he thought that there was a ground underneath him, it would sink, and Mob would fall further. Mob was having the nightmare of the abyss once again that he had once been put in from Xubei of the Lucas family, he hadn’t told anyone of these nightmares occurring since the battle, although this time it felt more real. He also remembered the way he cowered from the swordsman, and the shame it brought him. Mob realized that he was currently weak, and if it wasn’t for his weakness and recklessness he wouldn’t have been a burden to his teammates, one of which who died in battle. This made Mob feel disappointment with himself as he seemingly walked this abyss for a long time. He did not even know how he got here, as the last thing he remembers is crashing near dawn university fainting as his body succumbed to its injuries.
“Boy, this isn’t the time for your sadness, your weakness is a struggle, a trail which must be overcome.”
There goes that voice again, Mob was not sure if he was going mad or not. This voice had the sound of an old man, accompanied with a slightly low pitch in the voice, sounding like two voices combined but sounding far away from where Mob was at. Mob did not care much about this voice, as he was sure it was probably just his own consciousness trying to reassure him, which in this dark place it felt good to hear nonetheless.
“Heh look. I’ve gone mad.”
“We’ll eventually see if you’ve gone mad or not, boy”
*cue this music*
(music starts to fade in for Mob slowly)
…ses..ming…caaahh….cooo
Mob started to vaguely hear melodies and music entering his surroundings, growing greater and greater each second. For Mob, he felt as if his darkness was being wept away, violently contorting and distorting as if it was fighting something and then…eventually making way for a light which grew more intense as it overcame and absorbed all the darkness in it's way. It was heading right towards Mob. Just looking at this powerful light stunned Mob, and he knew he was going to get enveloped by it as well.
“Am I already dead? Is this here to help me crossover?”
“Boy! Get up! Seems like your life just got very interesting”, this time said the imaginary voice, however it felt closer and more powerful as the light completely enveloped Mob.
Mob opened his eyes, he was sprawled on his back in a room. Looking out of a window to his right he recognized this place as Hemlock Ridge, a building he often walked past on the way to his next class, as the outside scenery is where he would usually be walking. The room smelled of flowers.
“Coming to my senses. Coming to my, coming to my, coming to my senses! It seems you're finally coming to your own Shigeo.”
Mob sat up and turned around behind him to see a beautiful lady sitting at a table with a pot of flowers which seemed to almost gleam, the lady’s face had soft features and a very gentle air about herself, singing the song that Mob was hearing on Mob’s own Streetz Bose speaker which was also on the table.
“I see you have completed my introductory test young man”
“Pro-Professor Dupe! What are you doing here? How did I get here?”
“Shigeo you probably wouldn’t remember, but you flew into the entrance to Dawn University and passed out from your injuries. Shinoku himself told me to personally pick you up and train you under my tutelage. You’ve been making big waves young man, from alerting the university to the Lucas family hit list presence, to trying to set out on your own missions, possibly to gather information of some sort and investigate.”
Mob smiled “ Well thank you Ma’am, w-wait how did you know that I went out to do that?”
Her face then switched from a smile to a stern face.
“You thought we wouldn't know? What you did was extremely reckless and not good. You could have gotten yourself killed, did you think about how that would affect your friends and family? What about the staff here? Not only was it reckless to leave without any help, but you must understand that your noble intentions cannot have merit unless you have the strength to back it up, because these villains will kill you and wreck mayhem without hesitation. Even you have personally experienced what can happen. You would still be put in coma by the girl or mutilated by the swordsman if not for your stronger allies.”
“I understand”
“Good then. Now first thing's first the information you provided was critical and helped the school's security. I would like to invite you into Dawn University's agency. Do you accept?"
"Of course!"
"Good. Now remember as part of this agency you are part of a team. Don't go anywhere by yourself if you can't handle it. We should all work together to help develop futures, and protect the world at hand! I have many ways to teach you how to improve on your power, but first let's see what we should focus on. Use a technique and sustain it until I say stop"
Mob activated his orbital field shield and sustained it for about 5 hours until his nose started to bleed slightly.
"Okay. I see your main problem, your passive techniques could be a danger to your opponents as you pillow fort and set yourself up to defeat them, however the upkeep can be taxing on your body. So I'm gonna teach you how to eliminate that upkeep and conserve your energy. You have an excess of energy that is seeping out, creating a burden on yourself. Ill first give you this flower, it will help in aiding this process as it is a medical herb. Try to sense the excess of mental capacity that is coming from yourself. You will have a week to do this."
"Thanks!"
This would mark the start of Mob's first week of training
The whole last week had been grueling. Mob had truly been put to the test with his power. In this last week Mob practiced two things, one being sustaining his shield longer albeit for about a 5 minutes increase, and two trying to sense his own excess power leaking out of his “aura nodes”, as Professor Dupe called it. On Thursday of last week, it looked like a meager result would just be attained from the training.
“This is so freaking hard, and she’s saying that I need to run to develop my body to handle the further training. Is this not the training?”
“Ha! Boy, in my younger days I would be able to run circles around every one of your teachers. And that was attained through physical training, so keep up the arduous work!”
“Wait, what do you mean younger days. When I was young I had no physical training or fitness. Aren’t you just my own consciousness?”
“…Never mind that. Focus on your objective. You must focus on what your teacher said during all of this.”
Mob’s consciousness was right, his teacher had mentioned one important thing to him last week on the third day of his training.
(Flashback quote)"Understand your own worth, that mantra alone will help you in your future fights, since what your doing as a team is to protect the world at hand."(end flashback quote)
“Like your teacher said, you’re on a team now, and you must focus on understanding your own worth. Even though that Lucas kid had been bullied, from what she said before attacking you was clear. She understood her own worth, as a person and part of a team, no matter the affiliation. You need to do the same, Understand your own worth."
"My own worth...", Mob contemplated "What can I do? I'm not as strong as many of my fellow teammates, and I'm not very unique or popular in the school as well."
"That is for you to figure out boy. Some of your worth is already there and will gradually be understood, Other parts of your worth will be attained. You will have to grab it with your might and establish it among your peers and the world at large. Now, let us not waste any time and get back to it."
From that week on Mob agreed and let his emotion of perseverance flourish to carry him through the first week. At 11 pm on Saturday, Mob felt something. When sustaining a technique, his body felt like it was pouring out it's energy in the air constantly. It was so much, that Mob felt uncomfortable, as if he was a glass that had just been spilled. Also he noticed something weird about the flower Professor Dupe had given him, it started to gleam iridescently and give some color as if it was moonlight. Suddenly, a wave of calmness came to him, and his mind felt at ease.
"Have I been constantly outputting energy unconsciously the whole time? How long has this been happening? What is this gleam?"
Mob had so many questions, however his inquisitiveness was overcame by a sharp slap from reality. Mob's nose started to bleed again, and he noticed that the strain he was suffering was too much.
"You will figure out the answers soon boy. Ask your teacher when you see her. Now is the time for rest."
Mob didn't even hear those words, because his body surrendered itself to its own fatigue and fell onto his bed as Mob was rendered unconscious. In the afternoon of Sunday Mob woke up and would try the same training with the flower he had been given to not much avail, however this time Professor Dupe had brought him more medical herbs as well.
"I heard your adept at making medicines. Maybe we can work together to make something that helps this training to yield substantial results by using some of the medical herbs I have."
"That would be awesome Professor! Thanks for your help!"
“Now then, let us focus more on your training, we will work on synthesizing a drug next week so training will be harder this week and then even more intense next week as we will have to use half of the time to research. How was last week's training? Could you sense anything?"
"Yes, although faintly, what was happening made me feel weird. It was as if an exorbitant amount of my mind power was being used and poured out-"
"Ok stop there, first I want you to activate a passive technique like you usually do. Take notice of how much energy is being used."
Mob activated his shield and sensed all the energy being utilized.
"Now, what I want you to do is slowly take away at that energy until your technique is shutoff."
Mob did that and found surprisingly that it took a while before the technique shutoff. That was weird. Was he always so energy inefficient this whole time? He had never took in account his energy output, because he didn't think it could be helped and strain came as a necessary process he thought.
"That took a minute, it seems you've been overburdening yourself Shigeo." Professor Dupe said with a smile
Mob embarrassingly blushed
"Yes"
"Now Shigeo, are you aware of what your autonomic nervous system is?"
Of course Mob knew with his medical background. The autonomic nervous system, regulated by the hypothalamus, controls the body's involuntary systems. This includes respiration, cardiac regulation (the cardiac control center), vasomotor activity (the vasomotor center), and certain reflex actions such as coughing, sneezing, swallowing and vomiting.
"I do Professor Dupe."
"Good well I was thinking about how your quirk works and it dawned to me that most likely when you use a passive technique not only are you using too much energy by you are also delegating it to the somatic/voluntary nervous system. However, what if we were able delegate it to the autonomic nervous system?"
That shocked Mob "But Professor the autonomic system starts from birth, that should be nigh impossible to do!"
"Alas, but you should know the power of medicine has only accelerated over the years. And with my family's medical herbs plus possible medical treatment it can be done. Also, there are cases where people have reacted to a stimuli so much their body's autonomic system releases a response involuntarily, it can happen."
"That would be formidable!" Mob thought as his smile spread from side to side.
"However, this process could be dangerous, so we need to keep preparing your body and mind for this. Each factor will help increase your chances of survival. Therefore, I need you to train with multiple passive techniques while doing the physical training I gave you. I will give you more of these medical herbs to help relieve you. Also, now figure out the minimal amount of energy needed for each technique and practice endlessly, so it becomes like a habit to use less energy. Old habits die hard, but you’ll get used to it eventually, especially with these flowers.”
“Yeah, although the gleam can almost be blinding, the flower helps.”
Professor Dupe looked with an ice-cold stare.
“Excuse me Shigeo. Did you say you saw a gleam?”
“Yes?”
Professor Dupe smiled.
“Ok, that will conclude our training today. Focus on everything I told you!”
Mob sat down on Monday and thought about how taxing his training had been as of late. Professor Dupe seemed to up the training even further then she said she would. After saying that he saw a gleam coming from one of her flowers Professor Dupe from that point onward seemed disturbed about Mob. Nevertheless, she tried to keep a good personality in front of Mob.
“I wonder if I should try reading her mind, it might give me insight to this attitude change.”, Mob thought.
“I would highly advise against this boy; some secrets are meant to be kept and I’m sure she will tell you her concerns soon. We don’t know her power or who/what might be watching us, so let’s play our part and grow stronger.”
As Mob continued his training he discovered that he was able to significantly lessen the power being used to activate his moves, using minimal energy for a maximized effect. However, this would only prove to be the first step and still required conscious effort to break this habit. “Professor Dupe is right, while it is getting easier to use minimal effort if we were able to have the autonomic system dictate all of this it would be something never heard of.”
“You’ve done an excellent job boy. You acknowledged your previous weakness and are now able to have a degree of control over the power leaking out of yourself, this can only be celebrated with…MORE TRAINING!!!! You thought I would say something nice? Your lucky to have this time to yourself, you know the enemies will not lurk in hiding forever. You must utilize this time to develop these skills. Stay vigilant!”
Mob’s perseverance would kick in and he again would train hard nonstop activating mental focus, orbital field shield, and anger aggregate all at the same time to maximize his time utilized and place extreme stress on his body.
“Ok…breathe in…breathe out. Sense your aura nodes.”, Mob said out loud while sitting in a meditative position with his eyes closed.
Mob was able to sense the power coming from him and while it did not rush like a torrential storm like last time Mob was not extremely satisfied with the burden being used. Out of nowhere the burden hit him like a wave, knocking him unconscious.
*cue music*
“Ah. Here’s this dream again.”
Mob was once again in this dark place, however this time he saw a great light in front of him just sitting there. He walked close to the great light however sinister beings appeared before him, one was that of the swordsman and the other of the Lucas family girl. The other, Mob himself. Mob shuddered as he saw them.
"You do not understand your power, relinquish it to me."
The other beings seemed to agree with him, this truly scared Mob as he felt overpowered. There was nothing he could do, this being seemed to exert a sinister pressure about himself that was overwhelming.
“Understand your worth.”
Mob heard a voice behind him. There he saw a gleaming flower, looking like the one he had just seen before. Mob grabbed it and turned around and flower reacted to the beings in front of him violently pushing them away with its gleam into the darkness. “Quickly boy, grab on to the light!” "Kekeke. I will be back. I am always with you"
Mob ran and reached to the light with his hand. “Shigeo. Shigeo! Wake up!”
Mob woke up and found himself with a slight nosebleed, he saw on his phone that it was Tuesday. “Professor Dupe.”
“Shigeo, you must not overexert yourself. It seems as though you were having a bad dream. What happened?”
“Ah, nothing much. I seemed to have passed out. Haha.”, Mob smiled.
He did not want to tell her anything about to contents of his dream or the flower, lest he risk the ice-cold stares from her sapphire eyes once again. Professor Dupe stared at him glaringly with a concerned expression and then made a smile.
“Fine. Then we shall start trying to synthesize some drugs to help you with the medical herbs I have gathered. Come, look. I took the liberty of selecting some medical herbs from my personal garden.”
Mob saw the herbs was astonished.
“Oh my god, some of these are extremely rare to find. I’ve only read about them in the books at Dawn University. A-Are you sure Professor Dupe?”
“Nothing but the best for my disciple Shigeo. It’s because I understand your worth as a Dawn University student, a fellow hero, and a human being. You must do the same for yourself and anybody else you meet.”
Mob teared up in happiness.
“I-I understand.”
“Good. Now let’s work on this. I have some science materials ready, what we’re going to do is focus on cross breeding these medical herbs and implant some chemical extracts to each flower and see if the DNA mutates. The process is going to be long and hard, but I know we can do it.” “Yes”
The flowers Professor Dupe had was extravagant:
Sapphire bloom=strengthens myelin sheaths through a chemical which stimulates the production Schwan cells Red transpire=contains a chemical which directs the proteins to create more oligodendrocytes which helps brainwaves.
Spirited Silver=contains a chemical which can alter the hypothalamus. Can be dangerous at certain doses.
Krishina’s Summer=contains a chemical which acts a director through certain proteins for flower chemicals. Sometimes referred to as the DNA for flowers.
Quick Growth=this was not a flower but rather a solution which stimulates growth at rapid speeds. What would take months-years to grow could take hours-days to bloom.
Some flowers Mob saw he had never even heard of, and he hair started to flow with excitement. Professor Dupe and Mob got started and cross bred many of the flowers. A grueling process indeed, it involved carefully extracting the nucleus and DNA content from the sexual organs of each flowers and putting them in petri dishes. This had to be done under a microscope while the flowers were still alive, otherwise if each flower died the chemical properties would change causing the flower to be ineffective. They would then put the chemical formula in special flower pots with the quick growth formula Professor Dupe had.
*After some hours of challenging work*
“Alright Shigeo let’s stop for now.”
The student and teacher looked at what they did. Out of 20 crossbreeds, 10 of them died, 5 bloomed, and 5 were yet to bloom.
“Good job Shigeo. Take these 5 that bloomed and utilize it in your training. I made sure that these first 5 were made with small dilutes that way you can test them without worry. You’ll be our little test subject! I will have you and your room monitored in case anything happens to you. I’ll take these other 5 as they could have potentially more dangerous or different effects.”
“Gotcha.”
“And…Shigeo? Have you seen a gleam in any of the medical herbs anymore?”
"No...but I thought I saw a gleaming flower in my dreams." “I see. It might be progressing”, Professor Dupe muttered under her breath.
“Ma’am?”
“Oh nothing.”
Professor Dupe looked at Mob with a gentle fierceness in her eyes.
“Shigeo… please don’t lack your training. We will be having a special training next week.”
*The Professor leaves* “Kid, your about to get your ass whopped next week.”
“What do you mean?”
“Did you not see the look in her eyes? That was the eyes of a warrior, you must not know.”
“I must be getting paranoid, I must be so worried to even think a teacher is going to spar with me. I need to get some rest.”, Mob laughed

All that chemistry. Lowkey, you'd make a killing as a Villain in the Drug Game - that and you'd be able to learn under Xuebei. This post marks your Third Week of Completed Training.
Mob's training had started to yield more results than he previously had. He was able to use the minimal energy needed for his techniques as well as sustain his techniques for about 5 hours before succumbing to his mental fatigue.
"You've been doing good boy. Your hard work and determination has shown itself in the face of many physical and psychological challenges, but you still have a long ways to go."
"This must be because of the flowers", Mob thought smiling
The flowers had greatly enhanced his control over his supplementary techniques, making it that even former significant burdens were lessened to a smaller intensity. His physical fitness had also improved, and he had received a more toned body as his muscles developed and started to show. Even Tatsumaki had commented acknowledging him when he came home two nights ago.
"Don't think you cute just because you've been working out. You’re still ugly", she said blushing.
Mob knew that he himself personally still had some inner demons to overcome. On Tuesday afternoon Mob reflected over that personal dream. "W-what was that thing inside me?"
"Don't worry about it boy. Just know that as your power grows...it grows. So be prepared to overcome it if you want to reach greater power. Speaking of...where is your teacher boy?"
"Here I am!", said Professor Dupe smiling as she opened the door and entered the building.
"Good God! P-professor Dupe!" Mob exclaimed out loud, sweat coming down his face.
"Can she hear us?" Mob thought
"I do not know yet boy, but it's a good thing that you didn't read her mind previously. She would have been angered"
Professor Dupe looked at Mob with a puzzled look "Shigeo? Why do you look so scared? Don't tell me that you were looking at porn like some of these other students at Dawn."
"N-no ma'am. How are those flowers coming along?"
"It was...astonishing. Those flowers actually bloomed. Shigeo...follow me."
Mob walked into an empty large space used for sparring with Professor Dupe. "Professor Dupe, are we doing more fitness training or endurance training with passives? Were you going to show me the flowers here?"
"No Shigeo. You’re going to come at me with all you’ve got."
"What?!"
Mob's heart started to beat very fast and jump in his chest to the point where he had to grasp his chest slightly. It was so bad that he could hear his own heart beating very clearly. "HAHA!!! CALM DOWN BOY! I TOLD YOU THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN! SHE HAD THE EYES OF A WARRIOR LAST TIME!"
"This is not the time to joke around!"
"Shigeo, the flowers that bloomed might be the key to achieving the goal of our first part of training that we have spent all this time for. However, the danger of these flowers could be great. It might poison or kill you, so I will not allow you to partake in these flowers until you have shown me your strength and resolve.” “I-I understand.”
“Are you ready?”
Mob contemplated everything that was said and that he experienced. Of course, he felt fine since he had recovered but was he strong enough? Could he show his teacher the culmination of everything he has done? What if he failed? Would it be the end and everything he had trained for was for nothing? “Stop it boy. You are unique. You have worth. Show your teacher and the thing inside you that you have the responsibility and strength to handle yourself and those flowers!”
“Yes. Teacher I am ready.”
“Then I’m coming.”
Professor Dupe’s demeanor changed cold. It was if the air was cold and Mob's every breath felt heavy. Dupe disappeared and struck Mob in his right side sending him into a wall. One of his ribs immediately broke as he gasped on the floor.
“HaHa. Damn she got you boy! Get up!”
Professor looked and stared at Mob with cold eyes. She stood high like a goddess, movements with elegance like a rose, but her strength was like that of mountains.
“By my guess Shigeo, you probably just got one rib broken in your top floating rib's rib area. Your breathing is heavy annnddd your vision is somewhat messed up.”
How did she know all that from just one observation? Were her attacks so precise that she knew what would happen to an opponent before they even got hit? How was one supposed to deal with such a monster?
Mob got up and sent his mind shock aimed at her and then tried to place her in a telekinetic bind. Weirdly she laughed as she was seemingly unaffected by both techniques.
“Wha-What happened?”
“Shigeo. You have a lot to understand about your quirk, because others have already probably understood it. Try again. Show me the techniques you’ve worked so hard on, or have you been lazy?”
Mob felt hurt. To be precise, on his left side this time as he was struck by Professor Dupe’s knee into his left floating ribs at a blinding speed crashing him into another wall. Mob started to cough up blood as he clutched his stomach. “See Shigeo, what happens now since your ribs are slightly puncturing your stomach is forcing blood to come up, a classic characteristic of someone who is about to go into shock from blood loss. You see, you probably think that your attacks just spawn onto your opponent. Truth is, every time you try to send an invisible attack there are small air ripples that I can see and if I avoid them I avoid your attack.”
“Boy! This is not the time to be acting weak! You've got to do something right now! She is after your life! You must treat it as such!”
Mob stood up and activated his mental focus, orbital field shield, and anger aggregate so try to send a telekinetic crush at her legs no which there was no effect.
“Another thing, your attacks have no power behind them Shigeo. I saw the attack and decided to evaluate it. It wasn’t anything, but you did manage to tickle me, and for that you shall be commended. Again!”
Mob decided to assume a low stance and rush towards his teacher’s legs. His teacher hit him with her foot and he fell forwards on his face. His body lie there right in front of her.
“You did alright Shigeo, perhaps we should stop.”
“Hehe.”
Mob with every ounce of his strength grabbed his teachers leg and performed the mad touch technique, only to be met with a floral shoe in his hands. Professor Dupe was 2 meters away from Mob with her right foot in a sock planted on the floor.
“Shigeo. You must know that a professional hero must always be prepared to react. This herb will help you recover. You did well, and I’ll see you next week. Night-night.”
"Boy. You did well. Time to rest."
She feed Mob a herb and he regained enough strength to be able to walk back to his dorm where he immediately fell asleep sore from his previous injuries.
It was a Sunday morning and Mob was sitting in his bed thinking about everything that had happened last week. When Professor Dupe healed him it was astonishing, but he thought about the damage he took in the first place during the spar.
“She aimed for my two floating ribs on each side, easy weak spots in the body to abuse. Dang. It made me bleed like my body was a cup of blood pouring out my mouth. She even guessed how hurt I was, and in what areas of my body that was suffering punishment. That was truly imtimidating and nerve-racking.”
“Boy, out of all the opponents you have faced in your numerous battles, she was by far the most terrifying opponent that you have faced. You froze up just by feeling her intent. Luckily, she was probably holding back about 99% of her strength.”
“I know. I dodged a mean bullet from her.” “Boy, you must know by now that your actions at least commended respect. You did well against that monster of a woman, I bet you never knew that she had that type of ferocity.” “Yeah that was seriously a surprise. Professor Dupe had a very menacing type of demeanor. I guess some roses have secret thorns embedded in it. She is a professional hero after all.”
Mob continued his vigorous training, focusing his mind and body to be able to hold more stress before mental fatigue towards his supplementary techniques. His body felt durable from all of the training and herbs he had taken. His mind felt at peace and even though the burden from his techniques were there, it almost felt as if it was no more than a slight pressure applied to his head rather than an extreme strain.
“Boy, your brain behaves as a muscle. So, you must know that after time some things were going to change since your brain adapts to your mental and physical trauma. You have made great strides in your training and you could be able to maintain passive supplementary techniques, with little to no drain or burden! Think of that!”
Mob imagined his life without constantly having to worry about his burden. It would be a godsend to not have to be able to waste energy on passives and focus on his active techniques.
“Yeah it would really be a game changer to my style.”
“Alright boy let us go and spar shooting projectiles at those training dummies your Professor had set up for you.”
When Mob had woken up in that Sunday morning there were a bunch of wooden figures with mechanisms and moving wheels at the bottom. There was a note from Professor Dupe.
“Hey Shigeo! You did well last week! I want you to take these figures to the sparring room, activate them, and test out your passive abilities to be able to strike them. As a warm-up, carry all of them with your freeform telekinetic move. I will meet up with you later today for your present.” “I did well? Ha I was mauled”, Mob said closing the note.
Mob activated his free form telekinetic technique and walked into the sparring room.
“Let’s see what these contraptions can do.”
Mob set up the numerous figures around the room and hit a button and they started moving around Mob in fast and erratic directions.
“Focus boy. You should have acquired better senses by now.”
The inner voice was right, Mob activated mental focus and anger aggregate and suddenly everything about the movements of each of the figures slowed down to a speed where he could track them.
“Now!”
Mob closed his hand two times, destroying two figures quickly. Then the remaining 4 instantly seemed to move at a faster speed.
“They probably have a mechanism which gives greater speed when each one is destroyed”
Mob knew that he had to take them down in a fell swoop, so he harnessed his mental energy as he forced a higher level bind around himself halting the figures and then destroyed the last four figures by closing his hand multiple times.
“Good job Shigeo!”
Mob turned around to see Professor Dupe with---
“What?”
Mob saw Professor Dupe with 5 flowers, all gleaming a little brighter than the last flower he witnessed weeks ago. It almost blinded Mob with the gleam that was emanating from each flower. “P-Professor Dupe…those flowers.” “I know Shigeo. It is alright, and I know you have questions but don’t worry now. I am aware of what is going on and the reason for the gleam you are witnessing. Let’s see what happens when we apply these flowers to your body. Hopefully this will stimulate your mind and brain. You're gonna be our little guinea pig!”
“Haha”, Mob smiled with slight anguish.
“Now Shigeo, lay down on your back, close your eyes, and I will apply these flowers”
Mob laid down and closed his eyes. He felt his mind sink down deep within his consciousness and he ended up back into his own dream in front of a new light, (a red light at that) with a gleam like a rose. In front of the red light contained the swordsman, the Lucas girl, and a darker version of himself again.
“I see your back again, you are too weak to face your previous adversaries you have lost too, let alone me. Let me take over your body.”
“Grab onto the light boy.”
“Haha bro, you know what, you might be right. Currently I can’t face those dudes, but I will get stronger and beat the villains. My mind, the source of my power, is not so weak to let you conquer me.”
Mob felt in control of himself and possessed confidence that did not previously have rising to 100%, activating every single one his boosts and unleashing a blast to blow away each of the dark figures. Mob walked up and reached into the light with both of his hands, as a result the light increased until it enveloped Mob. “Shigeo wake up.”
Mob awoke to see Professor Dupe smiling. Mob’s body felt different, or at least he thought that. “Did it work?”
“I don’t know, but it is time to offer you some secrets to finally eliminate that mental energy upkeep in your head or direct it to your autonomic system. And with your strong determination, training, and body you are probably be able to pull this off. You cannot tell anyone, meh even if you did it is unique, so it probably won’t work on anyone else especially if the flowers played a part. So, let me tell you. The secret is…”
Mob suddenly awoke in his bed sweating. “What had happened this whole time?” “You probably don’t remember but your teacher had exposed you to those special flowers, enlightened you on the secrets of your problems, and then you feel asleep again. How do you feel?”
Mob looked around his room and his body. For some reason he felt lighter but stronger at the same time. What did his teacher do? He closed his hands firmly and sensed his power. It certainly felt different, but he could not put his finger on it. He decided to go to one of the training rooms offered at Hemlock ridge and further test and channel his power. He activated his mental focus technique, orbital field shield, and anger aggregate moves.
“My god boy! What is happening?”
Mob’s techniques activated, and he could sense his psionic energy flourishing. He power had grown considerably, but there was more that he was about to figure out.
“I don’t know but… the stress… I don’t feel the stress anymore! The burden… it is not here!”, Mob said with a smile.
“What do you mean, boy?”
Mob meant exactly as he had said. The small little pressure, that headache, that taxing drain in his head was not there anymore. It was similar to a man who has not been able to walk for many years suddenly able to walk again. Being with it his whole life, that gripping annoyance and thorn to his side was finally gone and it brought tears to his eyes. His Professor had shown him a new path, a cure for a problem that had constantly been on his side forever. He sat there for hours on end seeing if he would feel any stress but there was none, so he continued his exercises and still could not feel any mental burden. He hunched over panting and sweating,
“I… am eternally grateful to my Professor”, Mob said out loud. “Oh? Eternally grateful to me Shigeo? How Sweet!”
Mob turned around to see his Professor wearing a rose uniform.
“Pro-Professor Dupe!” “How are you doing this afternoon Shigeo? From the looks of it very well I see.” “It worked! I can’t feel any burden anymore. How can I possibly repay you?”
“Nonsense Shigeo. As a fellow hero and your mentor, it is only right that I should be able to help you out as Shinoku once did for me all those years ago. If you truly feel compelled, then as thanks become one of the beacons of justice for your fellow peers and those that you have sworn to protect!”
“I will.”
“Good then. We will now evaluate our previous sparring session from before. What would you say was the most important key to your defeat?”
Mob sat and pondered over a while. Was it his speed? His failure to recover from certain attacks? Or was it his power? His inability to do anything? He would essentially try to make two inferences.
“I believe it was my ability to track and catch.”
“You’re on the right track but your still wrong. Those abilities will come in time and we will work on it but the core of this comes in the strength of power to detain and suppress resistance. At one point I allowed you to take hold of my foot with your power, but I was able to break free of it all the same with little to no effort. While I may be a professional hero, you must realize that if a villain were to come by with great strength and break free of your control they can possibly overwhelm you. Also, as heroes we aim to suppress the enemy, not kill them. To have the power to do that requires more strength, responsibility, and morals many times more than the opponents we are faced with, so we are going to work on that.”
“Understood”
“Good. Now follow my instruction as we first properly use this time to focus at where you at.”
Mob was instructed to unleash a strong telekinetic bind on his teacher as she stood there. Upgrading to his B rank free form telekinetic move and unleashing a bind on her. As she waited for the bind to wrap around her, she would then slowly expand he arms to break free from the bind.
“What strength boy! She is a monster!”
Monster was just an understatement. Mob was using the strongest bind he had and she was slowly bending and escaping it like it was play-doh. Mob would seek to increase his strength by using his mental strengthen technique.
“Ah interesting! You are able to increase your strength further? This is good Shigeo and I think I found where I am going to start with our training regime.”
As soon as she said that she quickly extended her arms outwards again effectively breaking Mob’s bind. He had the face of absolute astonishment; did she struggle at all? How could she exert so much force in an instant? Was he still so far away from true strength? He knew he shouldn’t have thought about ever putting up a resistance against his teacher, but he could not help it. He had felt ambitious since he had grown, but he forgot the important detail that while he had grown his peers and teachers had also grown. And not just them but the villains were also growing stronger as he was, and his only way to beat them and outperform them was by working harder than any and all of them. He knew instantly that there was a long road ahead of him, but he could only grow further and it made him excited.
“HA! Boy! She is too much for you to handle! Reach further and listen to her teachings so you can grow.”
“Now Shigeo, we’ll probably start off with some simple wrist exercises. Even though your binds are based off of your mental strength, it is important to connect your brain with body and increase them both as they both consequently affect each other, and you as well.”
Mob understood but immaturely chuckled. When Professor Dupe had mentioned wrist exercises it reminded him of the days where he would watch hentai sometimes when could not visit to see his girlfriend Tatsumaki. “Something funny Shigeo?”
Mob immediately stopped and straightened up. “No maam”
Mob and Professor Dupe continued with their wrist exercises and she provided some other exercises that he would continue to train after she eventually left for the night.
“Haaah. Phew, shut up smh. You have no idea how bad this feels.”
“Boy, trust me. I have known more pain then you have in your life. You soft egg head shaped miscreant!”
“Whew. Someone’s mad asf!”
“Quiet. And continue your workout.”
Mob had currently been working on his wrist workouts instructed by his professor. It was interesting, considering how both mind and body are reliant on each other and consequently affect each other. However, it was soon at least proven to show some effectiveness in Mob’s physical gripping power. His hands could grasp objects and hold on to them more firmly. He remembered his instructions from the teacher was as soon as he had reached that point to start training the rest of his resistance exercises that he had done is his previous weeks of training. “Do not ever slack in the basics or fundamentals of your training Shigeo!”, Mob would imagine his teacher say to him.
Mob shrugged and let out an extreme sigh.
“Phew. She’s an awesome teacher but my lord this is intense ass training. However, I have seen the results of what it can do so I keep hard and persevere.”
Mob walked to one of his usual training rooms and on the outside door found a sticky note outside with Professor Dupe’s rosemary handwriting. “I will be here soon. Continue to practice while keeping some passive techniques active so you can work with your newfound training.”
Mob went inside, activated mental focus, freeform telekinetic, and the mad mindset ability. He continued to work hard and practice until his teacher appeared to for their next training. “Alright Shigeo! I’m here!”
She found Mob sitting and focusing in a meditative state with his eyes closed in a meditative position, focusing on his techniques and training. It seemed that he started to float and make little dents in the floor. He opened his eyes,
“Professor Dupe!”
Planting his feet on the floor, he walked towards his teacher to greet her. “Hello Shigeo, I hope your training has borne any fruit?”
“Yes. Weirdly I feel my grip has gotten a little better with handing objects in my hands. Strengthening my wrists were great exercises but how do they exactly help?” “Your body and mind consequently affect each other. As you feel more gripping power in your hands, soon would it be consequently reflected in your mental prowess. We will now begin another exercise to help your gripping power in the presence of movement.”
Professor Dupe brandished a small golden ball. The ball contained carvings of wings on it and other engravings. Professor Dupe threw the ball up in the air and it instantly spread it wings and started to vibrate them as it floated above in the air.
“What is this for teacher?”
“This will be your next test to evaluate your gripping and strengthening power in the face of a slippery moving object. Try to capture this ball. I’ll be back within two hours to see if you were able to capture it.”, she said smiling as she started to walk away.
“This is going be easy”, Mob thought as he immediately sent a telekinetic bind through the air but was effectively dodged by the golden ball.
“Huh?”
“Ah yes, Shigeo. I should mention that this ball can detect distortions in the air and therefore your invisible projectiles. Please try harder again before it gets away. See ya!”
This was going be one hell of a challenge so he activated his mental focus technique and mad mindset technique to gain more speed for himself and projectiles. As if it was sentient, it responded to the activation of Mob’s techniques by escaping the room and going outside. Mob continued to run outside and he telekinetically lifted earth (activating his d rank free from telekinetic move) to contain the ball. Smiling as he thought he was finished the smile quickly disappeared as the ball broke the containment, bounced up and down in the air to indicate it was taunting Mob, and proceeded to fly upwards towards the sky. What type of ball did Professor Dupe acquire? Not only was it fast and detected air movement, but it also had a significant amount of strength for its small body? “Oh no you don’t. Come back here”, Mob said as he started to fly upwards towards the sky.
The ball attempted to take an eccentric flight pattern, flying through forests and buildings around Dawn University in attempt to confuse Mob. Or it would have, if not for him using his mental focus to traverse the forestry. The both continued to fly upwards towards the clouds. Unfortunately, it was a cold and rainy afternoon so Mob had to fight through rain by applying telekinetic pressure around the environment so that little rain would fall on him and so he could keep sight on the object. As it rose further into the clouds, Mob felt as if frost was slowly enveloping his body as the rain would freeze and hinder his movement.
“Man, it’s really cold”
“Stop boy, if you fall from this height you will absolutely die. Wait for it and it ‘ll probably come back down.”
Mob considered the words of the voice in his head, but he could not just stay and wait. Who knew if and when the object would make itself available? He continued to follow the ball and even though it felt hard to breathe as he felt that he was almost inhaling ice he upgraded to his b rank free form telekinetic and binded the ball.
“Yeah…I did it.”, Mob said as he held the ball and fell towards the ground as his body was frozen stiff.
Professor Dupe walked in the training room to find Mob as his time was up but he was not there. She then checked her wrist. She had a tracker on the ball and the gadget on her wrist served to notify her of its location. Seeing that they were outside she walked outside.
“Where could they be?”
Suddenly she looked up and saw Mob falling down towards the earth. Using her available Heroic skills, she caught Mob and saw that he was holding the ball frozen stiff unconscious. “You did well Shigeo. Let’s get you a hot bath, treatment, and some rest.”
It was two weeks since Mob and Professor Dupe had trained together because of the extreme state Mob had been put in. He had suffered from mild hypothermia along with some internal injuries after falling from such a great height. However, even with all the injuries and ailment he sustained they were all rendered null in front of the powerful healing properties of Professor Dupe's various herbs.
"Wake up boy! It's time to go to work."
"Sheesh...Don't you have an off button dude?"
"Yes, when you become strong enough to move the moon with mind alone. And when you become strong enough to defeat that swordsman and Lucas family girl at the same damn time."
"What the hell? My god those expectations are high."
"Or maybe your drive is too low. Now get up!"
Mob would awake in his bed feeling great with a flower shaped note with elegant handwriting and a rosemary color.
"I hope you are feeling well Shigeo, come meet me at the training room once you have awoken."
Mob crumpled the letter and threw it in the trash laying back in his bed.
"You are not getting any more sleep! Sleep is for the weak!" "Fine. Fine. Sheesh."
Mob got up and put his clothes on, then he proceeded to walk towards the training room. Mob struggled internally with himself as he had come to terms with a dream he had as he was asleep. He imagined himself frozen in place while innocent citizens, those he had sworn to protect when up took the hero title, being mercilessly exploited or killed or attacked by numerous villains. Mob had heard reports of a meetings/war that the villains had partaken in, and even though he did not know every single detail of what had happened he knew ne thing for sure as he crossed the information with the dream he had.
“The villains have gotten stronger and possibly more organized. They will not be same people that you once fought. Therefore, one must be able to overpower and suppress them while protecting the citizens at hand.”
“Boy you must know that you’ll have to create a situation where you can concentrate your techniques further, making it harder for your opponents to be able to deal with. I think your teacher understands this as well, that is why she is helping you to acquire a strengthening of techniques to make it harder for them.”
Thinking from that perspective, Mob could not help but revel in how great his teacher’s intuition and grasp on the current situation at hand. However, to be able to focus on a training regime that supports and addresses the current situation at hand just showed how in touch Dawn University was with current affairs, and how much they needed heroes and future heroes to step up to the plate to prepare for possible great dangers. Mob finally arrived at the training room where he would be greeted by Professor Dupe.
“Hello Shigeo!”
“Professor Dupe!”
“Now, before we start today I want to go over your previous evaluation in regard to the previous task assigned to you. While you did mange to acquire the golden ball in your hands, you had to chase it around the school and forests and then when you finally managed to acquire it you lost consciousness due to injuries/hypothermia and fell from a great height. In a hero situation, you cannot allow for the villain to run rampant in a cat or dog chase simulation because you never know what they might do. They usually have no regards for other humans or the environment and will take any opportunity they have to attempt to distract you and take hostages while they move forwards with their plans. Also, once you suppress them, you must make sure that the villains are able to stay suppressed so they cannot escape or disrupt others. You falling unconscious to your death would not have helped to alleviate the situation at all so I am going to deduct points for that.”
“I understand”, Mob said while in his mind he did not understand that he was on a point system this whole time.
“Now we will test your mental endurance as we work on concentrating and refining your techniques. I want you to grip my arms and legs, each separately.”
Mob did as he was told and went ahead with his technique activating free form telekinetic.
“Now you must be able to maintain concentration while suppressing your enemy, one sign of weakness…”, as Professor Dupe tried to extend her right arm to break free from the hold. Mob tried to concentrate to make the hold harder.
“And bam”, as she immediately snapped her left arm outwards breaking his hold.
“There must be an equal distribution of concentrated energy and Shigeo your quirk is fortunate enough to be able to affect multiple people saving civilians and suppressing villains alike that you need to be able to acquire concentration and equal distribution. These SNAP exercises as I like to call them replicates how one my not only makes snap reactions towards different situations but also how you must have enough mental endurance to be able to reduce the number of SNAPS and keep your suppression. Ok release your hold, I have these training dummies I acquired for this training purpose. We will start off with 4, then 8, then 10 targets. Each with various strengths, speed of SNAPS, and sizes. It’ll be your job to focus on concentrating your abilities to be able to handle them all even as they try to do their best to disrupt you. Let’s get to it!”
Mob released his hold, activated his mental focus, free form telekinetic b rank, and mental strengthen techniques and started his training. He started up trying to grasp the four different colored training dummies and seconds later one blue colored training dummy broke containment. It took Mob an extra session with Professor Dupe to complete this task as the development of endurance and concentration without so called “weak points” was a subject that was cumbersome indeed.
