The events with Frank and the Hero's had finally settled down, and damage and carnage spread during Korens brief time at the mansion had made him truly excited for the future. Seeing Frank obliterate Leona, and nearly destroy his entire family was riveting for the young villain. The clean up and after math were swift, with Tony's reality warping able to easily rebuild and relocate the mansion, Koren had found himself with permanent residence at the Lucas family manor, and for good reason, as Zel X was not done with Koren yet. A week after the event, Zel called for Koren in his office, and the two met up. Koren was quick to bow his head, and Zel stood up, pacing back and fourth, a huge paned window glass revealing the garden before him. As he stopped, Zel spoke to Koren who had yet to raise his head.
Koren, Frank's generously allowed you to stay in the mansion, but right now, you're weak. I noticed, during the prisoners escape, you did nothing but stand around. I later heard you explained to Tony, that you didn't want to risk your quirk bustin up the mansion. Admirable and foolish in the same right my boy. Because of this, i'm sending you to get some training. You've shown potential, which can be molded into something amazing. My younger brother, Zed X, has graciously offered to teach you, he's in the basement, go find him immediately. I expect good things from you, Koren.
Without word, Koren spun and left, under his mask, a small smile. Koren was going to be trained by a Lucas family elite, which meant he had the greatest opportunity to fullfil his original goal set out for him fro his superiors back home. Reaching the basement, Koren noticed all bar one light had been knocked out. In the back corner, a single candle flickered in the darkness, just barely illuminating the immediate area around itself, but leave the rest of the room dark. From the pitch blackness, a figure clad in black armor emerged, revealing only partly, his body to the light of the small candle. Before Koren, stood Zed X, younger brother to Zel X and Jamilla, ever as ruthless as his siblings and just as talented. Zed X made no attempt to hide himself, but he was known to be a man of few words. As he neared Koren, he produced a handful of small, black daggers, playing with them in his hand as he spoke.
Tony told me, you almost lost to an opponent that you couldn't track. I'll fix that. Im going to throw these knives across the room, through the light of the candle. I'll start at max speed, you knod yes or no if you see it. Once you see, we will work on moving your tracking higher and higher until you can track my top speed throw, understood?
It seemed word traveled fast. The man who had almost taken Koren out had been witnessed by Tony it seemed, but i guess that was why Zed had been chosen to train him. Nodding in agreeance, Koren stepped back to a line Zed had drawn in the ground. From there, Zed slipped back into the darkness, hiding in the silhouette of darkness. From that darkness, his voice came but once more.
Ready, Koren.
Koren nodded again, and so began the training.
The first dagger flew, and Koren saw nothing. Only reason he knew this was the wind trail the dagger had left behind caused the candle to flicker in the direction the dagger had flown. Koren also heard the thud the dagger made as it hit a target Zed X had probably set up for this training. The dagger hadn't even registered on Korens perceptions, showing that Zed X could kill Koren in an instant. It was also apparent that Zed was giving no warning on purpose, using the brief light the dagger would pass through as the only indication Koren could use to see. Zed X clearly knew how to train people, this much was apparent. With a shake of his head, Zed said nothing and threw another dagger, this one slightly slower, but again, way too fast for Koren. The flame flicker and thud of the dagger the only indication Koren had that anything that even happened. Once more, Koren shook his head.
So on and so forth, this continued, even to the point where Zed X had to leave his position, walking over to the board he had been throwing daggers at, and retrieve them before slinking back into position. This method continued for another few minutes until finally, Koren saw it. It was only faint, but as the dagger flew, a small black blur crossed his vision, before the flame flickered and the thud of the dagger was heard. Nodding a yes, Zed X threw one more dagger, this one slower again. It was still a black blur, but slightly more features were available this time. Nodding again, Zed X threw another dagger, this time, the dagger itself was clearly visible as it passed the candle, hitting the board with a thud. Koren took this as a prompt to speak, finally being able to see the entire dagger in motion.
That dagger, i could see perfectly, the entire dagger, it's shape and all. The other two where blurs, but the third was visible to me.
With his speaking, Zed X returned from the darkness, a few daggers still in his hands. Zed walked up to Koren, still enough in the dark that he couldn't see the man perfectly, but out of it enough that Koren could see him as he had earlier. Looking Koren up and down, Zed X spoke.
You're about where i expected, which is good. If you had taken a few more tries, i'd have been worried how you lived at all, but you're were Tony said you appeared in the fight. I'm going to teach you how to properly track an opponent, regardless of how fast they are. If you can see them, you can hit them, are you ready for your training, Koren?
With a simple nod of his head, Zed slipped back into the darkness and spoke once more.
Then let us begin.
