The police are already on their way so just hand over the merchandise to prevent digging yourself a deeper hole kid .” said an ominous voice from behind Marrow with a stern tone as the grip on his shoulder tightened. Marrow snaps his shoulder forwards, out of the man’s clinch as he made another attempt to continue onwards and make his smooth exit, as if he was disregarding the employees existence and was innocent and didn’t know what the man was talking about. The secret shopper however was persistent and felt somewhat disrespected by the young thief. In all honest it was just the fact that Marrow hated when people thought it was okay to make unwarranted physical contact with him especially if they were a stranger. The man’s presence was bothersome to say the least and would serve as the only obstacle stopping Marrow from alleviating his hunger pains at the moment.
As the employee attempted to grab once more , this time trying to put Marrow in a choke hold, Marrow instantly retaliates by grabbing the pesky employee’s tricep with his left hand and latching on his upper bicep with the other one. Without further ado, Marrow takes a small step forward while simultaneously pulling the employee off the ground and over his back. In one fluent motion, he dips his shoulder towards the ground, tossing his assailant over his body and slamming his back onto the cold, hard , tile floor. By the looks of it, the man was indeed an undercover employee, a new one at that, so Marrow couldn’t really distinguish him from the rest of the seasoned employees he was used to seeing patrolling around looking for guys like himself.
The man was barely in his thirties and was clad in a dark green polo shirt and khaki pants with matching Sperry’s on his feet, The kind of guy that you wouldn’t expect to be come out of nowhere trying to rough up homeless teenagers over a few snacks... but there he was, on the ground groaning in agony as a multitude of other last minute shoppers and bystanders arrived at the science and began to record and commentate on the situation. The young homeless man was drenched in unwanted attention and he knew that this moment would eventually leak onto headlines and social media. But that was to none of his concern. What he really was afraid of...was the fact that inevitably, he’d have to give the people more than just the show they wanted. Little did these citizens know, they could more or less become hostages in an petty theft turned armed robbery within a moments notice.
Marrow activates his quirk and begins to undergo one of his transformations, allowing him to manipulate his bone structure to his discretion. Swiftly, he makes a gun gesture with his right hand and points his index finger down at the grounded loss prevention employee with a twisted smirk on his face.
“NOO! Please! Don’t do it!” , the coward pleaded as the assortment bystanders prayed, gasped while others said similar things to the soon to be victim. Just to think a few seconds ago he was all billy bad ass attempting to rough house someone smaller and younger than him but there he was now, groveling in the floor begging for his life at the feet of the villain with both of his arms stretched out towards Marrow as if his hands alone were going to save him from impending death. “I WAS JUST DOING MY JOB”. A sorry choice of last words. An admittance of being a pawn for a multimillion dollar company that clearly can’t do anything for him when times get tough. Although it was a lousy choice of last words, the words actually resonated within the young mans brain, reminding him that everything he does is a mission with an ulterior motive for himself . What he deems best for him at any given moment is also what he believes is in world of tomorrow’s best interests.
“ You should’ve called for an ambulance instead...” the teenage villain said before launching the bone, which made up his index fingertip, into the man’s midsection as if it were a bullet.
Without remorse Marrow executed the man in the middle of the store and in broad day in front of a crowd of onlookers.
As the man’s blood and guts gushed out of his body and mouth at a rapid rate as he was a human geyser, Marrows fingertip bone and tissue instantly grows back in place as if nothing had happened to his hand. The people’s excitement and awe shifted to a unanimous feeling of terror after witnessing a cold blooded murder committed by a busted thief . Impulsively thinking and using the current situation at hand to determine his next course of action, Marrow figured that a few snacks was not worth all this attention he had brought upon himself. He thought that if this was the moment he’d be exposed to the world, he might as well go all out because what a wise man once told him...” Any publicly is better than no publicity. “
He chose notoriety over prominence. And he knew that in order for him to achieve true power required to make drastic changes , some type of fear had to be instilled within society.
“EVERYONE GET THE FUCK DOWN. LISTEN TO ME AND NO ONE ELSE GETS HURT. “ Marrow threatened as he started waving his hand gun around and indiscriminately aiming the weaponized finger at random civilians, demanding them to turn off all cellphones and electronics or they would end up just like the employee who was drastically gasping for his final breaths while drowning in his own blood.
Marrow rushed towards the nearest open cash register line just to find a female cashier hiding behind the counter in scrambling with her cellphone in utter terror. She was a pretty young thang, (description) just Kevin’s type, however she done goofed. He loudly and clearly demanded that all cellphones and electronics be shut off but she just had to be the one to defy him. In her failed attempt to text for help, Marrow hops over the counter and yanks her up by her hair before forcing her against the cash register, causing her to drop her touchscreen cellphone. Upon impact with the floor, the glass screen to shatter into countless shards. Unfortunately he had to come across her in such a dire situation but Marrow was a firm believer of everything happening for a reason.
