Vincent bolted down the alleyway, relying on the echoing clap clap clap of his quarry's shoes on the cracked pavement to find his way to the man. The docks, void of life, would provide no safety or shelter to the businessman Vincent had been hired to find and... forcibly silence. He'd managed to pull the man, a slightly overweight pencil-pusher who'd simply seen something he hadn't, away from the busier inner city streets to finish the job quickly and quietly, but Vincent hadn't anticipated having to chase him for four blocks. Keeping a relaxed pose had made his reaction time slower when he'd confronted the man on his way home from work.
"Henry!" he'd called out, leaning against a building directly in the man's path, "Finally! I've been looking all over for you!" He'd given a smile to the man, who nervously smiled back as he'd begun to edge around Vincent's approach. When that was blocked by Vincent's sidestep in front of him, though, the chase began as Henry turned and ran before Vincent's reaching hand could grab him.
Now he was breathing heavily from the exercise, but the slow, stumbling footfalls of his mark quickly turned from relatively easy to track, to sounding off from just around the corner. Vincent stopped as he turned the corner, facing the gasping man, bent with his hands on his knees as sweat poured from his brow. As a droplet fell and hit the ground, Henry turned his head in time to see Vincent rushing at him, fist already swinging. He held his breath, squeezing his eyes shut a moment before impact, and Vincent's fist landed with a soft plup! Vincent's fist sunk into the man's flesh slightly, losing all momentum as Henry's quirk activated. With a slight scoff of disgust, Vincent wrenched his fist back, watching as the man's cheek seemed to pop back into shape with a slight wobble as Henry's eyes opened.
Before he could retaliate, though, Vincent pressed the larger man as he pelted the man's soft stomach with fast, light jabs. "That's right!" Vincent cried out, eyes widening as adrenaline began coursing through his veins, "Don't make this easy, Henry!" A fist shot up, smashing Vincent's lip against his teeth at this, and the taste of blood filled his mouth. The green eyes that had held a sick excitement moments before narrowed to glare at Henry's now-open eyes, his heavy breathing and darting eyes quickening as a fresh wave of fear came over him.
"That was good, Henry," Vincent spat a bright red globule to the ground before wiping his mouth with his sleeve, "Make it even more interesting, and I'll make it quick!" with this, he lunged forward, thrusting himself forward with a blast of air from his back pipes as he rained blows on the pudgy man. Every other blow seemed to have no effect, but Vincent didn't care - not until sirens sounded off in the distance. It was too soon to tell if they were coming his way, but there wasn't any point in finding out.
"Sorry," Vincent grunted, breathing heavily as he stepped back from the battered man, "gotta run, Henry. This was almost fun, but.. you just couldn't keep up." As a slight melancholy flashed across his face, Vincent shot forward, hand reaching out to grab the man's face as his leg swung behind the larger man's legs to sweep them out from under him as Vincent shoved forward. All in one moment, before he could even blink, Henry found himself staring at the stars while Vincent's hand closed over his mouth. Lining up his palm's hose opening with his mark's gasping mouth, Vincent breathed in deeply, his shirt revealing the vents on his chest as the air pulled it against them. And in one forceful push, he expelled the air through his hand, forcing it down the downed man's throat to expand the lungs. Vincent stared down into the struggling man's eyes, overflowing with tears as the pressure in his chest continued to increase. In a few heartbeats, Vincent felt the resistance change dramatically as the man's lungs burst and his eyes slowly began to lose their color.
Vincent heaved a sigh as he sat back on his heels, wiping his hand off on the man's coat. He fished in the cooling body's pockets for anything of value, and then heaved the body into a nearby dumpster before making a hasty exit. After traveling nearly a mile, he pulled a phone to his ear, waiting for the line to pick up. Two rings sounded off in his ear before the *click* of an open line came. "Soooo... won't be doing much talking.." he said into the microphone, almost playfully. Though, he received only a simple, "Payment has been transferred," from the woman on the other end before the line cut out.
With a shrug, Vincent continued on, twirling an old woman's pearl necklace on his shiny new silver pen.
