Aarons world warped and twisted, as if he was being thrown around underwater, unable to move or do a thing while the world around him continued to shift and change. Colors blurred into one, somethings black, sometimes grey, the world shifted and shifted. The very sound around him was twisted, a low hum, a high pitch scratching, so many mixed feelings and emotions, yet as soon as it started, it went away. All the twisting and grating vanished in an instant, as an eerie silence flowed over Aaron. Glancing around, he noticed that the man had moved them both to a new area. Around them was almost identical to where Aaron was last. A large empty and abandoned construction site. The scaffolding here was rusting, the creaking of steel the only sound to be heard. Around them, mounds of dirt piled up, and compacted dirt on the ground, leaving feint Tyre marks from vehicles that had long since abandoned the place. It was also very dark, not a single light to be seen, only the full moon illuminating the site. Aaron's eye sight was able to make out basic things in the darkness, but outside of that moonlight, there was nothing. Not a single sound, no cars driving past or people walking around, just the eerie silence of creaking steel and darkness. In front of him, the man who claimed he was Tony Lucas, stood there. The man was close enough that Aaron could see his green eyes in the moonlight, and the cunning smile on his lips as he looked Aaron up and down. The two men stood in silence, making the meeting even more uncomfortable, and Aaron was the first to break the silence that felt like it was echoing in his mind.
So, you claim to be Tony Lucas, are you really?
The man paced side to side, not once breaking eye contact with Aaron. Sizing him up, or maybe he was deciding that this meeting wasn't worth his time. He kept pacing, slowly, left to right, before coming to a stop in his original position.
Do you really think Tony Lucas would come out to meet you?
It was an intelligent question, and it truly made sense. Why would one of the leaders of the Lucas family come out to meet Aaron. Even though Aaron had ties in South America, the Lucas family had shown great influence even in the black market there. The black market was how Aaron had made contact with one of the Lucas family retainers, and as such sent a message to arrange a meeting. It seemed the meeting had been established, and this was likely another retained setting the stage for the grand reveal. Aaron wasn't fully sure what was going on, but he could not fault the truth that, even with his influence in South America, a king pin of the black market wouldn't meet up with him so easily. Chuckling to himself, Aaron took a single step forward.
Well, you're right in that regard. I'd honestly be more shocked if you admitted you where Tony Lucas. That makes you some sort of retainer? Or perhaps a recruiter? I don't understand the situation thats in front of me right now, if you could explain?
The man in front of him took his own step forward, closing the gap between them. His piercing green eyes and cunning smile not once breaking away from Aaron likely confused but confident demeanor. At the same time, the constant glare was unsettling, feeling like the man was looking at a meal, not a man, made Cautare mumble something in Aaron's head, that he chose to ignore. The man would slip both his hands in his suit pockets, again, not breaking contact as he spoke.
We got your, "request" to meet with the family. This is your meeting. I'm merely here to see if you will suit the family or not, nothing else.
To the point, and it seemed Aaron was correct. A recruiter was before him, likely using Tony Lucas' name as a way to guarantee Aaron would willingly comply. However, whatever this mans ability was, it truly seemed like Aaron had no choice but to come or not, which was also unsettling. pondering the question for a moment, Aaron looked up into the moonlight that shone down. It was a calm night, even after the events that had just unfolded, Aaron felt quite calm, even in the face of a sudden meeting. Pondering ever more, Aaron glanced back down, to meet those piercing green eyes once more as he spoke.
I wanted to meet with you so that our families could, come to some sort of agreement. Here in New York, iv'e no influence, yet you have all the influence. I would like to try piggy back off of that, in exchange for my services. In short, i'll do whatever is needed to join our two families together, and increase my own standing here in New York to further my goals. I guess that's the short of it, Mr Recruiter.
The man's smile never wavered, and his eyes felt even more imposing after Aaron had spoken, as if what he ad said was over stepping some sort of unwritten boundary. The mans response, almost confirmed as such.
My Apologies oh lord of the South, should i take you to the manor now for cake and tea with Tony? We've no need for your influence in South America, we run the black market. What we do need is strength, something i have seen for myself, but i want to see more of. If you want a real meeting, you'll need to do something for me. Complete the task, and i'll set it up, fail, and you'll lose any chance of marrying our families, deal?
Cunning was the word, like a snake. It was true, Aaron knew the Lucas families reach was wide, far wider than his own, but this was something he was willing to do. Nodding in agreement, the man pulled both his hands out of his pockets, palms to the sky, and spoke once more.
Pick a hand, left or right?
A strange question, there was clearly nothing in the mans hands, yet he was asking as if Aaron could see it so clearly there. It had to be a trick, but Aaron was willing to play along for the time being. Pointing to the mans right hand, Aaron glanced up at the man. Once he looked back down at the mans hand, a folder had appeared in it. The man was some kind of jester perhaps, or maybe he just liked toying with people. Aaron was sure. The man extended the folder to Aaron as he spoke.
Inside that is all you need to know. Once you're finished, i'll find you.
As Aaron looked down to grab the folder, the mans hand vanished. Looking up, the man had vanished entirely, leaving Aaron to the blackness and silence once more. That guy was truly interesting that was for sure, and the folder didn't seem very thick. Cracking it open, three sheets of paper were laid out in front of Aaron. First was blueprints, at the top, it stated they where the prints to Trump Tower in New York. Secondly, was a picture of some kind of skull, Aaron couldnt properly make it out in this light, but it seemed to be ornate, maybe some important paper weight of some kind. Lastly, was a hand written note, at the bottom, no signature. It was brief and to the point, just like the recruiter.
Nothing else was written, no real directions, just a pent house at the top of Trump tower. It seemed like the blue print was for that specific floor, not the entire building, making this even harder to figure out. On the back of the blue prints where some dates, hard to make out in the light, but it seemed to be from today up till three days later. Taking a wild guess, it was likely going to be there for three days. Even still, with this folder, Aaron still had one glaring question, where was he. Using his quirk, Aaron scaled the side of the scaffolding, and to his utter surprise, he was on the outskirts of the city, miles away from his last location. It would take him most of the night to walk back to his hide out, and with a heavy sigh, Aaron began to make the trek back to the city.
Aaron arrived early in the morning, slumping down into his bed after walking what felt like a hundred miles. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out cold, however, instead of dreaming, it seemed like Cautare wanted to have a talk with him, sometimes taking these chances of sleep to talk without the outside world to distract or influence Aaron. As usual, the setting was pitch black, and nothing but a voice could be heard in the darkness.
Why do we need this Lucas Family Aaron? We can do great things on our own, without doing other peoples dirty work.
Cautare, you could have asked me this earlier, why are you picking now to do so? And also, maybe back home i could, but here, this is a major city, with huge influences all around. I can't do much here without the assistance of those already with their foot in the door, do you understand?
Or, you could give into me, and let my full power flow through you and tear this entire city down to the ground in a matter of hours, that sounds much more effective.
Me being dead after such an incident sounds counter productive to me. You will get to cut loose soon enough, but for now, we play the political game, as it seems we are going to be cat burgerlers for a few days
Cautare said no more, as the weird darkness faded into a dreamless sleep, to which Aaron awoke eleven hours later, still feeling sore from the walk back from the outer city the night before. Getting up from his bed, Aaron was stiff, but knew he had a job to start doing. If his guess was right, he had three days to get the item back, and he would accomplish it. Grabbing his cell phone, he looked up the location of the trump tower. It was quite a ways away, but nothing some public transport couldn't solve. Luckily for Aaron, the man last night got him away from the police, so he was not yet a wanted man, giving him free reign to move about the city as he pleased, for now. Ringing a taxi, Aaron got the cab to same block as the trump tower, but had no interest in going in. His objective was not to enter the building in a traditional way, instead, opting to go a more round about way. Gauging the general location of the tower, Aaron slipped back a block, into a alleyway, before triggering his quirk at his feet. The ground around him would vanish as it was absorbed by Cautare, causing Aaron to fall through the ground, landing in the sewers below. Knowing the direction of the tower, Aaron merely walked through the sewers, absorbing the walls and such, making a straight line walk towards the tower, counting his pace as he had done on the surface, so he would know how far he had to go. As Aaron kept walking, he finally reached a point where he was confident he would be below the towers parking lot, and began his ascent. Using his quirk, Aaron would create two tendrils of matter to hoist himself up, before extending another from his hand to make a hole in the ceiling above him. As he did this, he would continually pull himself up, until he finally broke a hole in the ground, and climbed out onto the surface. As he hoisted himself up, Aaron wrapped his quirk around his face, hiding his features from any camera's that may be watching. Stepping out from behind the vehicle he had surfaced from, Aaron glanced around. Around him, several expensive and luxury cars were parked, supposedly safe down here, but if Aaron so decided, he could make them all disappear, but that was an idea for another day. Now in the parking lot, Aaron went looking for the elevator. It didn't take him long, as the building had many useful signs. Pinpointing the location of the elevator was the key, as Aaron paced back to his original entry point, counting his steps once more, before jumping back down the hole. As he landed back in the sewers, Aaron paced back into the direction of the elevator, once again just walking through the walls and creating a path with his quirk. Once Aaron believed he was below the elevator, he did the same thing as earlier, making a hole for himself until he broke through, however, this time it was different. The elevator shaft was empty, the elevator likely near the lobby area. down below where the cables, and all the running parts, which worked nicely for Aaron. Stepping back, and using his quirk once again, Aaron began to scale the outside wall of the elevator, opting not to enter the elevator shaft, in case the elevator came back down, but instead using the walls as a guide to go upwards.
Little time past, as Aaron scaled higher as higher, gradually poking holes in the wall and looking through, making sure he was still in the right direction and to see if the elevator was nearing. As he neared the top, he could hear the elevator gliding up and down, stopping at a point before going back down. It appeared that this elevator didn't go up to the higher levels, instead just going down, which was a problem, as Aaron had intended to scale all the way to the top. Shifting his coarse as he reached the lobby, Aaron stayed concealed behind the thick walls, hollowing out a position for himself with his quirk. Once he was comfortable, Aaron would create a pin hole in the wall, small enough that no one could see it, but large enough that he could see the lobby, and as he feared, the elevator going up was on the opposite side of the lobby. This was proving to be a bigger task than he had thought at first, but he didn't let it phase him. Crouching down, Aaron burrowed a hole into the ground, and began crawling through the ground, using his quirk to dig out a path for him. Luckily, due to the size of the building, the lobby foundation was several meters thick, allowing Aaron the effortlessly crawl through the concrete without disturbing the people above. As Aaron crawled, he eventually broke through the wall that lead to the new elevator shaft. Looking up, Aaron could see that this one went up far higher than the other. Moving across the shaft with his quirk, Aaron once again dug a hole out and began ascending the massive tower through the main elevator shaft. Several hours past, and due to how long it was taking Aaron to switch between forms in his quirk, he guessed he was perhaps half way up. Even still, the sun was beginning to set by this time, or at least, according to the time on his phone it would be in the process of doing so. The cover of darkness was far more beneficial for him. However, it seemed Aaron hit another snag in his plan. The elevators top was nearing, but Aaron was no where near the top. Poking a hole in the wall once more, Aaron could see that this was only the 26th floor, as it was written on the wall he could see. Aaron still had a ways to go, but he very well couldn't just walk around blindly looking for the next elevator shaft. He would have to wait, wait for the cover of darkness, wait till the early hours of the morning, where less people will be around, as less likely to spot him. By this point, Aaron was tired, so using his quirk, he hollowed out a spot inside the wall, allowing him to lay down, and have a quick sleep while waiting for the people to leave, or at least, most of them.
Several hours past, and when Aaron awoke, it was already 1 am. Perfect time. It seemed this floor was for busy, lots of offices and computers, and most of it was dark and turned off, most people gone for the day. Even still, this didn't mean Aaron could walk around freely. Using the same tactic, he crawled through the concrete, however, this was not nearly as thick as the lower foundation, still thick enough for him to crawl through, but it didn't offer as much room in comparison. Aaron spent well over an hour, looking for the next elevator, and after crawling around most of the floor, he found it. The noise of the mechanisms shifting around drew him near it, and he did finally break through the elevator shaft, and it seemed that, from a first glance, this one would take him upwards to the penthouse suit. Doing the same tactic, Aaron scaled the wall with his quirk, until he finally reached the top. The elevator shaft stopped, and when he looked through the wall, he could see he was at the top floor, floor 56. At the end of that hallway, was the door leading to the room where the object was being kept. This time, using the wall, Aaron walked along side the thick walls, shuffling sideways as his quirk ate more and more concrete, until he came to the door, where the wall ended. Using his quirk, he created another pin hole hole to look through, and thankfully, the lights where on, and he could see a little bit of the room. Directly in front of him, from what he could see was a single man in a suit, standing by the window. From his position, that was all Aaron could see. Stepping back, Aaron burrowed more out of the ground and began crawling through the ground once more. Above him, Aaron could hear people talking about all sorts of this, some planning for the next day, others just idly chatting about something or another. As he move about the floor, he pulled out the blue prints, and using a small torch he had brought with him, figured out his position. In the far east corner, was a large wardrobe. Behind that, a secret panel which lead to a small vault. Large enough for two to three people to stand in comfortably. Using the blueprints, Aaron made his way across the room. The blue prints where a life saver, as in only about ten minutes, Aaron found himself no longer absorbing concrete, but absorbing steel. Industrial grade steel, meaning he had found the safe room. Aaron waited their for a few moments, waiting to hear any sounds. He even poked a small hole in the out wall to glance in, seeing nothing but a small box in the center of the room. Certain no one was in there, Aaron made his move. Using his quirk, he cut a hole in the wall just large enough for the box, before extending two tendrils out to grab it, lifting it up from the platform and bringing it back to him. Once it was safely in his hands, using the torch, Aaron opened the box and shone light in to check the contents, and using the picture provided, confirmed that this was the right item. With the box in hand, Aaron made his way backwards, following his old path. As the path was already cut out for him, Aaron could move far swifter than usual, making his decent take nearly two hours as he finally made it back down to the sewers. Opting for a new location to re surface, Aaron walked around the sewers for another hour, before getting back up through another alleyway and hailing a taxi. Heading back to his current base of operations, the skull securely in hand. Aaron arrived back at nearly 6 am in the morning, and once again fell asleep nearly instantly. He had used his quirk so much that his mind was fuzzy, and he felt sick in his stomach as he laid back down. Waking up several hours later, to banging on his door, he sat up as one of the few people he had recruited motioned him to the kitchen, where an ipad with the daily news was playing. On the small screen, a news report was running about how a vault at trump tower was compromised, and an image of the suspect was released. From the parking lot, a picture of Aaron, coated in his black matter, was nearly unrecognizable, and due to this, Aaron was not worried.
The rest of Aaron's day was uneventful, a lot of sleeping and eating, trying to regain the energy lost from over using his quirk the day before. The news story ran multiple times, however it seemed the police where currently unable to figure out how it happened, but Aaron knew they would figure it out. There would likely be footage of him getting in the cab afterwards, still cloaked, so it was also a day spent knowing he would likely have to relocate in the very near future. Aaron went to sleep that night still waiting for the recruiter, and awoke the next day with a note pinned to his door, simply telling him to meet at the same location from a few days prior. This time, Aaron had one of his helpers drive him there, late at night once more, before ushering him away, and sitting in silence. Several hours past, and once again, from thin air, the man appeared in the cloak of moonlight, his piercing green eyes and cunning smile still on his face. As he walked towards Aaron, Aaron got up, walking towards him, and handing him the box as he spoke.
One skull, just as you asked, stolen from the vault on the 56th floor of the trump tower.
The mans grin remained, as he opened the box, looked at the object briefly, before closing the box once more. Looking up, the man spoke.
Welcome to the Family, kid.

This skull belongs to the Lucas family. It was stolen some time back, and has surfaced at an Auction. It was purchased by a benefactor, and is currently in a vault at the penthouse of the Trump Tower. Get the skull back for us. Nice and simple. |
